I thought Baldwin had to be included so the Wiz didn't go over their 1.25* more incoming salary max, in which case kicking rocks, would kick the trade. Washington doesn't want to do cuz they got one over on us.

Edit: guess it got resolved anyway.

We sent Baldwin out with cash to San Antonio

My quote says: "Edit: guess it got resolved anyway." The Spurs' trade is what I was referring to.

I know this benefits us, but how do you trade something for nothing

Horst always loses around the edges - didn't he blow a big trade exception by signing George Hill to a few hundred thousand too much or something like that?

Now I hate even more the Kuzma trade...No youth in return after giving up an 18 year old who can actually plan - The fact that this allows them to sign Hollins...tells me they are likely done. straight Horst ****

If getting more athletic to play with pace was the vision than Kuzma was a decent start but failing to turn Brook or Bobby into another piece to that puzzle would just be goofy.

No half measures, yes that's Breaking Bad reference

That basically gives us 2 buyout spots. Rollins will take 1 and if we want another one we just waive Livingston.

Not exactly

We are 2.7 below the second apron
We will sign Rollins for something like 2M.

If we waive Livingston we still have to pay him (for several years). So unless we shed more salary AND trade more players put than we take back, we do not have room under the apron or on the roster for a buyout.
Nope, everything right now is prorated and so is the cap hit. So signing 2 players would cost 1.4 million against the cap

Also Livingston is non guaranteed next year. Pretty clear he's not worth a roster spot.

The Baldwin trade kinda tells me that they don't have any other move to create that space for Rollins, which means they're likely done making trades.

Critiquing moves that have been made is valid. Blasting Horst (and I'm no fan of his) for not doing more moves is dumb. Unless you can tell us what specific offers were on the table that Horst turned down or what offers Horst put out there that other teams turned down, no one has a clue.

I just assumed that because of the apron rules Johnson couldn't go in the mids deal , so two seperate deals were done. Johnson has to go out for something valueless since he was payment for the mids/Kuzma, Baldwin is the valueless something that we now just gave cash to get fully off our books.

Give Horst the tiny amount of credit for declining Marjons option. We literally couldn't find him away on an expiring deal. Would have been a lot worse if we picked up his option.

Could we have not just done Khris for Kuz straight up? Why the hell was AJJ even involved?

Because any team taking on Khris wanted some kind of sweetener to do so. That was his value around the league whether people want to admit it or not. You can debate whether we should've done it of course.

You're going to have a hard time arguing that when Horst is notorious for overpaying and Middleton was traded to a team who wants to tank for Flagg instead of push for the playoffs, which Khris is more valuable for.

We'd project to give up less, i.e.: Tyler Smith & a 2nd, if anything, trading Khris to a team he actually helped instead of hurt.

Impossible to know what was or wasn't on the table and we have a whole separate thread for discussing it but I'm just saying all evidence suggests that teams were not lining up to take on this version of Khris knowing that he's exercising that player option next year without some incentive.

I was watching nbatv last night and Chris Haynes was on. He said if the bucks don’t make a deep championship run there will be major change in the off season. I took it as a message from Dame wanting out but who knows

It would be a prorated salary, though.

Calculate how many days are left in the season - I think the season ends April 13th, and then divide that number by the total days in the season (174, I think). That would be the percentage of the salary that would impact our cap this year.

Or the team wanting Dame out. He'd be the biggest chip to cash in if we blow it up (sans Giannis of course).

But it's premature until we see (hopefully) what Giannis/Dame duo can do in the playoffs. We haven't see that yet.

F%!# it. Let's do the Spurs and Popovich a solid and trade Giannis and Dame For Wemby picks and filler. We owe them a solid after they traded us Damir Markota.

Let the Lakers get their a$$es handed to them the next few year. Right the wrongs of the NBA and see our boy get a few more rings.

We already got a Bobby chant... Wemby chant would be a thing too.
