I think Koufos ends up being the biggest bargain in Free Agency this year.

Yes, I would, but it depends on who is going out and what not. But in the context of the post, yes I would.

Right, if Denver would agree to take Sanders for McGee, I'd do it in a heartbeat - considering McGee has only 1 more year on his contract. Even without including Sanders, I'd be happy to take on McGee for expirings if it netted Lawson - but I can't see Denver doing that.

A scouting report from when he was traded to Memphis. I could see him slipping through the cracks, he is basically a 7 foot ZaZa...That is not a sexy addition to the team, but would fit nicely here if we can't lure something better.

Well, let’s start with his height, which is where it all starts. Koufos is 7’0″ tall–a need for the Grizzlies’ bench as their reserve big men had been the 6’10” Ed Davis and the 6’8″ Darrell Arthur prior to the trade. Koufos adds a 265 lbs frame to his height, and as the weight would suggest, Koufos is a pretty strong guy down low. He’s a natural fit for the grit-and-grind nature of the Grizzlies. And, interestingly, Koufos is a deceptively quick guy.

Koufos as a player, he plays a bit of a finesse game offensively. He doesn’t power into the paint like a Dwight Howard would, but instead, Koufos takes advantage of his soft touch through hook shots, layups, and tip-ins. The strength is visible when Koufos finishes through traffic and he’s capable of ripping down a dunk on the defense, but his offensive game is mostly predicated on finesse shots.

He won’t change a game with his scoring, but with his well-polished offensive game and his low-volume/high-percentage scoring, he can be counted on for a decent amount of points per game.

If Koufos is solid offensively, then he’s outstanding on the glass and on defense. Per 36 minutes, Koufos averages 11.1 rebounds and 2.0 blocks. That production would put him 5th on both the NBA’s rebounding and shot-blocking leaderboards. Koufos has a 103 defensive rating (points allowed per 100 possessions), collected 17.3% of all available rebounds, and blocked 4.4% of shots while he was on the floor. Only ten other big men in the NBA were able to match or top those metrics

Defensively, Koufos’ length and height makes it very difficult for teams to shoot over the top. He understands the quirks of the game, like making the proper judgments as a help defender.

As a rebounder, Koufos is very tough to stop because of his understanding of good rebounding position combined with his strength and size when boxing out and going up. On the offensive end, his rebounding often translates into tip-ins and putbacks for him. Again, he’s very good at establishing position, and combined with his soft touch and ability to finish through contact, it’s not very easy to stop Koufos if he grabs the offensive rebound.

Koufos’ biggest flaw may simply be that he doesn’t do enough. He contributes well in all areas, but it’s hard to count on him to go that extra mile and be the game-changer a superstar would be. That said, Koufos is a top notch role player, and Memphis made a great decision in adding him to supplement their bench. He understands his role, and that’s the type of team player every winning team would benefit from.

Koufos is a great role player but I don't see how he fits that Zaza role at all. It'd be like filling Zaza's role with TImofey Mozov.

Most crucial and most telling decision will be if the Bucks trade Dudley at the deadline.

The offseason trade is already a win from our perspective, but it could be a home run if the decision makers truly embrace #OwnTheFuture and trade him again for value.

He's played incredible for us and his value will never be higher, I could see him bringing back a decent asset from a contender. Whether he gets traded or not is what will shape my opinion of management at this point. I don't see them doing it, because he's helping us win and that's what they want right now, but I'd be pleasantly shocked if they did.

Koufos is a much better player than Zaza. He's a legitimate defender who can step out and hit the jump shot. Think double double with two blocks if he gets the minutes.

Really? I don't think he fits the offensive passing piece, but I picture him as like super ZaZa in all the other parts of his game. Kind of your typical fundamental Euro center but not actually 38 years old.

Jarred Dudley could remake basketball in Milwaukee on his own. If we parlay this right, Bill Simmons would be writing about him three years from now.

1. Got 2017 Clippers first for Bucks. Bucks use pick to move up in draft from #16 to #9 to select Tyus Jones.
2. Helped new owners bring interest in team for first 2/3rd of inaugural season to get arena built.
3. Got Noah Vonleh from Charlotte (or fill in the blank with other asset we trade Dudley for) who shook off doldrums in year two in the NBA and later became all-star PF.

i'd take a flyer on koufos, 6-8 mill range is probably what he'll get tho I think.. But he's big, better defender than zaza, Zaza is a better passer.. At the very least he's a very solid bench big.

I don't think Dudley is getting the bucks anything good, probably some 2nd rounders.

AA for Jackson isn't going to work, perhaps MIL could add a 2nd or two to make it fair.

DO you think that AA has more value than that? I mean, I wouldn't object to adding a 2nd
?

Well, do you think you could just get Lamb and Perkins for Illysova ?? Then just cut DEN out

I'm not completely joking here - Derrick Rose might become available the way he's played the last 2 games. He's refusing to pass the ball. He's taken 20 of 59 from the field. The first game, he took 33 shots and had 1 assist to go with 11 to's. The second game, he got out-played by Jordan Clarkson in a double-OT loss. Knight and lots of filler for Rose.

No way in hell I want any part of Derrick Rose's contract with his injury history.
We're going to turn this team around 360 degrees.

I still want MCW, and I think we could get him for Dudley and the Clippers 2017 1st. MCW is very similar to Livingston in terms of style of play but he has a lot of room to grow, I feel MCW could be a very integral piece and fits very well in Kidd's system, and if we can get him that cheap, why not honestly?

The Derrick Rose thing is why I'm concerned about Jabari. Both guys need a lot of shake and bake to be successful. Harder to do with ACL.
