Are we locked into only the taxpayer MLE based on Holiday's bonus, or can the Bucks maneuver to get below the tax to get the full MLE this offseason? If the former is true he's gone in all likelihood. But then I still wonder if they'd try to finagle a handshake deal for next offseason.

He is so gone? Is he talking about new opportunities?

Also, he's immortalized forever. I got the Bobby! Bobby! Tshirt. I heart him forever no matter where he goes.

He's talking about how much money he gave up to come play for a ring and he understands the importance of making as much money as he can while he can.

I think if all things were equal he would love to come back but understands that it just doesn't make sense financially to stay with the Bucks.

Bobby will be a fan favourite for life no matter what team he goes to(if) and rightly so.

Some team will pay Portis a lot of money. Good for him, he deserves it. He worked his ass off to get this good. When we signed him, I thought he was a back of the bench player. How happy I am to have been so wrong.

Forever a Bucks legend, no matter where he goes. I really wish we could keep him. But outside of moving Brook, I don’t see any other way.

Not getting the same vibe from that interview at all. He said he really didn't know what he would do yet & Le Batard blew it up into generational money guaranteeing he's gone.

Earlier in the interview he said he wouldn't want to play with anybody but Giannis. After playing with other superstars, he said Giannis is a different type of guy. Really selfless, looks out for his team & loves the game.

Don't underestimate that pleasure of being Giannis' teammate, especially after you win a championship. He could always get paid more on the next contract

Bobby has earned over $28M in his career. I'm sure he's gone, obviously. But man, I wonder how much happier the salary-difference will make him by moving out? The purpose of earning money is to make life better and happier and more secure. Not sure "settling" for $3+ million isn't enough for the security factor. And I'd imagine that he's never had a better and happier year in all his career. Obviously he's going to go, but it wouldn't surprise me if next February he'll look back and have some second thoughts.

Dallas has a lot of cap room and could use a player like Bobby. If he wants to get paid but still play for a contender, that could be an option.

Probably our best option as he heads out West and the only way we play against him (besides 2 games in the regular season) is in the Finals. I have always been a Portis fan since his Arkansas days and really don't want him going to an Eastern Conference title contender or one of the LA teams.

Bobby loves this team, but can make.more.money elsewhere. How do sign and trades work? Is that something players have to agree with? Is it a goodwill favor to both the player and the organization? I suppose the Bucks would need the cap space to initially sign him first?

Yeah you have to be able to sign him to the contract if you're going to sign and trade him, and you can't use the MLE for it.

We're certainly projected to be paying the tax between Jrue, Giannis, and Middleton. No way around the taxpayer MLE.

I think the opportunity that likely comes with whatever team signs him for relatively big money is likely a huge draw as well. Yes, $5 million is a lot of money and he enjoys playing with these guys, but he can theoretically get another chance to prove he's more than a 6th/7th man elsewhere. I don't blame him at all if he basically says "I won a ring as a key contributor off the bench and now I'm ready for the challenge of proving myself as a starter/all-star caliber guy. I don't personally see him as that caliber of a player but he probably does.

He'll get his Delladova deal this offseason for sure.
