How is it throwing away the season any more than hiring Doc Rivers? Because he's on TV and has Milwaukee connections?

If you're just going to let Prunty coach the rest of the season...why would you even bother firing Griff?

Doc for all the crap he gets, actually has won...you have a better chance of winning with Doc than rolling with Prunty.

I don't expect the team to fall off any worse than it has with Griffin under Prunty, Prunty has a solid resume and has previously coached the Bucks into the playoffs before. I wouldn't hire anybody short term that I wouldn't hire long term, well maybe Larry Brown would like one last run...

Griff was so bad they forced him to hear what Doc had to say, Jesus.

Horst if you're reading this right now, put that pen down and call Kenny. We don't want Doc.

Crazy how he did that with no significant roster changes!

I wonder how much Doc would be enticed to coach the Bucks just based on the high likelihood that the Bucks will play the Sixers in the 2nd round of the playoffs. Assuming both teams make it past the 1st round, as long as we don't bring Bud, I like our chances of getting out of the 1st round this season....lol.

Doc would have the chance to stick it to the franchise that just fired with him, two top 75 players (Who don't choke) on his side.

So weird how having a bad coach in charge can zap all interest in watching or discussing. Probably watched 90% of games last season. This year maybe 25%.

I've watched every game this year still. Not sure if you could qualify it as "hate watching" but I often found myself hating what I was watching.

FWIW, Stotts was on a flight to Milwaukee around 10 days ago. Not sure if it was coincidence or not. So maybe they tried to bring him back and he was in the discussion.

Wish we'd go with Kenny, but whatever

League sources say Doc Rivers, who signed on as an ESPN analyst after getting fired by Philadelphia in May, began to serve as an informal consultant to Griffin at the behest of the Bucks. One month later, multiple sources briefed on the matter now indicate that Rivers is the serious leader for the now-vacant position and the preferred choice of key stakeholders.

The Bucks have started discussions with Rivers to become the new head coach of the franchise, league sources said. Warriors assistant coach Kenny Atkinson, who was a runner-up to Griffin in the Bucks’ head coaching search last year, is a candidate for the job as well if the team is unable to secure a deal with Rivers.

LOL

So Atkinson is still an option?

I view Doc as a CEO type coach who's assistants do a lot of the tactical work. It's a fine model but only if he has really good assistants.

Wait I’m seeing Atkinson is also a candidate IF we can’t secure a deal with Doc?

Uhhh if Horst picks Doc over Atkinson, fire him too, honestly.

During training camp Portis was asked about what was different with a new coach and his response was that under Bud everybody knew what to expect every day and now they didn't. That was what Bobby thought of as his first compliment, something that it made it seem like Griffin didn't know how to manage the mundane day to day operations of coaching.

Turns out people on this board were right, the Stotts thing was a huge red flag, the defense and rebounding took a nosedive immediately, team chemistry was fine for years and now there are rumors of problems. Someone said a number of games back it seemed like Giannis was giving the go-ahead to can Griffin and here we are.

Ya, the lack of Dame.

This hiring came BEFORE the Dame trade, when everyone on this board also thought this roster was massively flawed and destined for an early playoff exit.

That is probably what Nurse saw.

And it seemed like they had no roster flexibility until the Dame trade fell into their lap. And Nurse saw that Giannis runs the team, not the coach.

Maybe they were finally able to make this move because Giannis finally cried uncle. 'This time you have to do it [OUR] Coach's way.'

If Bud gets a pass for not having Dame.

Then you have to give Griffin a pass for not having Jrue, Wes & Jevon.

I am 110% ecstatic that Griffin just got fired, but fair is fair.

Needed this to happen. Surprised but happy they didn't let it go on longer.
