Not sure what ends up happening here.. And while the league probably loves an extra day or two in headlines... It is ultimately much better for the NBA to have the Clips back. No one wins with a wasted year of CP and Blake. They are huge stars in the mega market and it would be terrible to have them languish on a 8th seed team with no legit chance at advancing.

Chris Paul is a tyrant, and Blake can be a clown, but they are both phenominal talents and I hope DJ goes back to the Clips.

I feel a little bad for Dirk, but have never liked Cuban for a single second. Dallas kinda deserves a dissaster season with the way they have handled theor business lately.

I'm enjoying the Cuban vs Ballmer wars every bit as much as I'd hoped I would.

Don't joke about that, in a day it could be that they're "selling" [losing] Monroe's commitment to them. I hope this has no negative implications on what the Bucks got done, if other players and offices make changes in their decisions.

I really don't think Monroe's going to turn his back on this young Bucks team for that question mark of a Mavs team at this point. I was thinking more of like trading them Plumlee since they lack NBA players over 6'8.

Monroe agreed to a deal with the Bucks before Jordan agreed to his deal with the Mavs. That's not proof-positive that he wouldn't consider them but if he wanted to go to Dallas you'd think he'd at least wait until the Mavs were no longer an option before agreeing to a deal with the Bucks.

As far as making a trade for a Mavs player, it's a pretty bare roster. Excluding the untouchables of Dirk and even if Parsons is theoretically available the Bucks aren't forking over what it would take to get that deal done. Unless someone thinks really highly of Dwight Powell or really wants Charlie Villanueva back there's not much there.

I got your inference to begin w/, as a follow up to hosing the Clippers in a deal to get a center from this roster. I just wonder if some weird movement might take place with Jordan reversing his decision. The Mavericks will be free to pursue other FAs, maybe they opt to "rebuild" [tank] but there's Robin, Greg, etc. they can at least reach out to.

My initial thought was that the Mavs might be one of the 5 easiest teams in the league to get draft picks out of, and the Bucks have too many players. Conveniently the Clippers are also right up there with Doc GM.

Lmao at Paul Pierce tweeting a picture of an emoji. Old man doesn't know how to use his phone lol.

I've been worried about this the entire time after the "Knicks didn't offer the max" report came out. Still trying to hold off on being too excited until it's official.

Ah ok, my bad. Well, a couple things. First, as others have said, Monroe agreed with the Bucks before Jordan agreed with the Mavs, and apparently never even MET with the Mavs or Clippers. Second, I'm pretty sure pen goes to paper on these contracts tomorrow. It'd take a miracle to change someone's mind in 12 hours when you haven't even started trying to recruit them yet.

If Monroe truly wants to win, he is not going to go to Dallas. That team does not have a bright future. And if all he wanted was a bigger market, he would have gone to NY or LA in the first place.

Monroe is not flipping to DAL.

I forgot about what the Bucks didn't have to resort to in their meeting. There's always Lasry's tap to Bill Clinton.

I love the mental image I get from all these Clippers tweeting emoji on their way to try and steal back DJ's heart. Redick driving furiously across the country in his car, Blake dramatically flying in a helicopter with his GameFly jetpack on the ready, Paul splashing through the waves in a swimming suit and life vest on a banana boat, and Pierce blasting off on his jumbo rocket. It's like the ending of some really weird comedy spy movie. I half expect Will Ferrell, Kevin Hart, and Mark Walhberg to just pop out of the framework any moment.

The "New York didn't offer the max" was confirmed to not be true by Falk, Monroe's agent. If someone doesn't have a reason to lie about that, it would be Falk. He wouldn't burn a bridge by saying a team offered something other than what they actually offered.

Well the Knicks did offer the max, as did the Lakers. But yeah. It's very unlikely but not out of the realm of possibility. The Mavs are one of the secondary "premiere" landing spots and they are a playoff team. It's a little early to act like suddenly the Bucks are this destination where guys really want to go, just because we beat out miserable New York and LA teams. If the Mavs didn't have their targets set on DeAndre, they may well have gotten Monroe in the first place.

Yeah, I know that's what Falk says, but you never really know with these things lol.

I cannot be the only person that doesn't think Dallas is that good in the West. They're obviously a better team than LAL (or NYK for that matter), but they are definitely not trending "up."

I agree. It's not like adding DJ and probably trying to force offensive possessions to him was going to help him. They would have no PG to speak of and their bench would suck. I think, even with DJ, Dallas would struggle to make it as an 8th seed unless Parsons goes back to Houston form and Matthews is 90% from his injury.
