Re: OT: Cutting the Cord 2.0 The Tutorial
This SlingTV with a Roku sounds like a good option for cutting the cord as long as you get the Blue+Orange package. Only $40 as opposed to the $130 I pay for cable a month. Might have to seriously consider it.

Re: OT: Cutting the Cord 2.0 The Tutorial
Hey all ...
so as I look to cut the cord and save $$$ --- but not lose access to Bucks basketball, what are my options? I've read through the past few pages but didn't see anyone definitively state that Sling or the new DirectTV NOW show Bucks games. Can anyone confirm this for me or point me in a good non-cable direction to get Bucks games. Trying to weigh options before our second mortgage kicks in.
Thanks

sling does. Drirect TV Now shows blacked out wolve games. Playstation Vue lets you sign into the fox sports go app and watch from there.

Sling Blue will get you Bucks games for $25 a month. If you can't live without ESPN and its related channels it is $40 a month for Orange+Blue.

So those with Vue experience - can you DVR Bucks games for later viewing - or is that restricted?

I've tried both sling and Playstation vue. Its a little more expensive but i like vue better. Should be noted vues interface is much better on a fire stick than roku. I would love to try direct tv but the lack of dvr is a nonstarter for me.

So I would be able to DVR the Bucks games then with Vue? You've done it

Outside of the state you need the $40 package to view the Bucks since you get all the Fox regional channels.Outlander wrote:Sling Blue will get you Bucks games for $25 a month. If you can't live without ESPN and its related channels it is $40 a month for Orange+Blue.

How is the Firestick interface different from Roku? Because I hate Roku's interface, makes it very hard to channel surf.

Re: OT: Cutting the Cord 2.0 The Tutorial
What's the delay like with the streaming options like Sling, DirectTV and Vue? I always hate watching FoxSportsGo or ESPN3 and there's like 30 seconds to a minute between the cable feed vs the streaming feed.

Lately Vue has been pretty good. Maybe slight delay over cable, but not as bad as the apps. At least during the last few BTN basketball games and bowl games I've watched. I could pretty much follow the game on twitter/forums without much risk for spoilers.

Can you watch the bucks game without the fox sports go app?

Sling is 20/25/40 for only one device at a time though, right?

Re: OT: Cutting the Cord 2.0 The Tutorial
actually had sling and went back to cable. wouldn't exactly recommend for watching live sports. if you strictly want to save money and get the content in the simplest definition of the term, it works. but it can be as much as 30 seconds behind actually game time, freezes occasionally, randomly gets a bad picture, etc. and i have good internet and everything. i've read similar things from people in several places.
didn't have this problem with espn app or anything either FWIW.

I think blue you can do up to 3?
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: OT: Cutting the Cord 2.0 The Tutorial
I had all 3. Decided on vue. DirecTV now sucked. Sling is alright but vue has got a DVR function. Use the fox sports go app for bucks games. It has football on it too but I just used an antenna for Packer games because it comes I'm better.

Re: OT: Cutting the Cord 2.0 The Tutorial
TW/Spectre Internet + Netflix + Amazon Prime Video +
antenna for local channels + sisters directv online log in for streaming select channels +
online links for Bucks(reddit nba streams have been fantastic lately) + online links for movies, tv shows
about 75$ a month.
no feeling of missing out on tv or shows.
very few not on Netflix and Amazon,
i can wait for all the new stuff to get there eventually.
im not against finding streams online to watch things.
sometimes the quality is horrible, then i just check back later.

Re: OT: Cutting the Cord 2.0 The Tutorial
I've had all 3 "cable" streaming services. Currently sitting with a Playstation Vue subscription and 3 month DirecTV Now 3-month trial (to get my Apple TV):
Sling TV
Pros:
- FSWI integration is great.
- Roku interface is great.
- Service is stable, minimal buffering
Cons:
- No BTN
- No DVR
- No true "Guide"
Playstation Vue
Pros:
- DVR
- Decent channel guide on non Roku devices (not a fan of horizontal channel scrolling)
- Has BTN and BTN alternates
- Service is stable, minimal buffering
Cons:
- No FSWI, but can use FoxSports GO app
- Roku interface is terrible
DirecTV Now
Pros:
- Lots of channels
- $5 HBO (at least at the moment)
- Excellent Guide
- BTN
Cons:
- Service is unstable. Lots of buffering, errors, although its slowly getting better.
- No FSWI, and no FoxSport GO app login, so Bucks/Brewer games are currently unavailable.
- No Roku (yet)
- No DVR
Unless DirecTV Now either gives me a FSWI channel, or allows me to login to FoxSports GO, I'll be dropping them pretty quickly. Its been a giant mess with errors and streaming and AT&T should be embarrassed. At least the streaming has gotten better. I was able to watch the Badger game on DirecTV Now without a blip last night.
For Wisconsin Sports Fans, Playstation Vue seems to be the way to go. If you aren't a Badger fan, go with either Sling TV or Playstation Vue.
