Braun was once again terrible in the playoffs. They should’ve shipped him off too. He shot worse from 3 than Russ.

With our motley crew of 6'4 role guys/3&D guards thinking we're gonna somehow money-ball our way to a great offense just because Giannis is awesome. That was pretty much the reasoning behind the Kuzma trade (beyond the financials) and look how that turned out. Trying to re-create production of great offensive players/scorers in the aggregate/through the bargain bin doesn't work in the NBA like it does in other sports. I'd be more optimistic with a better offensive mind at head coach, but obviously, we have Doc. This team is gonna have to lean entirely into a defensive identity because I'll be stunned if they're gonna win many track meet type games against playoff level opponents next season.

You make fair points, but I have more of a “we shall see” perspective on the matter. Thing is, good to great players started somewhere; and we have some intriguingly solid to perhaps good younger guys who’ve shown themselves capable of fulfilling roles around Giannis. We’ll need to see them perform consistently well and grow over a full season while taking on bigger roles which we did see some of down-the-stretch last season with Dame’s blood clot & eventual Achilles injury. It maybe wishful thinking, but I feel fairly good about rolling with a core of younger semi-unproven guys who’ve flashed some actual two-way court abilities. They may not be stars, but good teams need good players throughout and a team of two or even three scoring stars surrounded by a roster filled with weaknesses on one side of the court or the other won’t lead to a championship either. Point is, time (during the season) will tell how progression goes with this younger roster.

Another hidden benefit of that Khris trade and then the Dame waive and stretch is that we can now sign any buyout player regardless of what they made before being bought out. Teams above the first apron wont be able to sign anyone who made more than the full MLE.

For real, KPJ connected on more lobs to Giannis in 1/3 of a season than Dame did in his time here. I don't have the numbers right now, but I think I'm right.
