I don't understand how Deron Williams can just decide he wants to play somewhere else. What a spineless dope. I know he gave back some money, but I don't understand how anyone could feel good about rooting for that guy. Has anyone ever been more overpaid then him and at the same time so ungrateful?

4:05pm: "Williams is expected to sign a two-year deal with the Mavericks in the $10MM range after he clears waivers, Marc Stein of ESPN.com tweets.

4:01pm: The Nets and Williams have reached an agreement on a buyout arrangement, David Aldridge of TNT reports (on Twitter). The details of the agreement are not yet known."

I feel this just ices the top of one of the most bizarre free agent periods I have ever witnessed.

Screwed one of the great coaches into forced retirement, flat out stole money from Brooklyn for years while leading them to the middle, then takes off. Massive DBag halfway through his date with the karma bus.

And Brooklyn owes their pick to Boston.

And people blamed Kidd for wanting someone else to replace King (he didn't want to be GM, he just wanted King **** gone), and, since that didn't happen, he wanted out.

Speaking of dbags how pissed would you guys be if Larry Sanders signed with a team this season? He's out in California supposedly playing in the Drew League ProAm. So he must at least miss the game somewhat.

Meh. Larry loved Milwaukee. I actually think he is a pretty cool dude. He turned down A LOT of money, he clearly has some mental issues he needs to sort out. If he comes back to the NBA I would root for his success honestly

That's an awesome viewpoint to have. I guess there must be a reason why I usually like people I meet from Wisconsin.

I'm probably in the minority but I would accept Larry back with open arms tomorrow if he said he was ready to resume his NBA career and wanted to play here.

How hilarious would it be if Deron Williams signed with the Clippers.

Danny Ainge's legacy as a GM was already pretty solid (brought the title back to Boston). But as of two weeks ago, I thought his current plan (stockpiling second and third rate first round picks) was a fruitless endeavor. Several post draft reports even published that every team 4-9 turned down his "anything you want" attempts at trading up.

But man, what a difference a week makes. Now he is probably getting the Dallas pick, AND with Deron Williams leaving Brooklyn there is a much higher chance that pick rises much higher.

Out of anyone in the league, Danny Ainge had the best week.

Goes to show you how much luck goes in to the rising and falling fortunes of a franchise.

Bucks looking at Chris Copeland. He shot really well his first 2 years and fell off a cliff last year. He doesn't play defense and is 31. Not a super exciting replacement for Duds.

Are there any specific rules with players you are still paying after relasing them? Like would they have to wait till they were no longer paying him? Or for the life of the original contract?

Also goes to show how having those assets gives you more opportunities to be lucky.

If Larry wants to come back for league min or give the buyout cash back in exchange for a discount from his original contract and a good clause, I would take him back. I have always been a Ricky Williams fan and would love to have him back on the team.

Outside of Gary Payton, I'd take almost anyone back.

The caveat would be they'd be on an appropriate contract.

Just think about how much value a motivated Sanders would have had on the market at 10M per year too. Oh well, onward and upward, I wish him well.

Pretty sure you don't have to worry about Mase coming back.
