Thanks for that little guide. I've got a decision to make.

My previous monthly internet bill was $63 through Charter. Oh how I miss those halcyon days of sub-$30 a month internet.

When I couldn't get the Bucks over the first week of the season using a family member's Charter login and the Fox Sports Go app on one of my devices, I got a TV/Internet bundle, pushing my monthly bill over $100 after DVR and fees. The convenience is nice, but I really only watch Wisconsin sports and cooking shows.

The thing is, I think FSWI and the FSG app got their **** figured out up north here and I'd be able to watch the games again. I may have to try and negotiate a lower internet feed and try the PS Vue.

As soon as someone has a good DVR along with the channels I want I'd switch from Uverse in a second. Uverse is fine but expensive. About the only thing I watch live are Packer games. Even Bucks games I'll usually record and start watching 30-45 minutes after tipoff.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

soboMP3 wrote:I've had all 3 "cable" streaming services. Currently sitting with a Playstation Vue subscription and 3 month DirecTV Now 3-month trial (to get my Apple TV):

Sling TV
Pros:
- FSWI integration is great.
- Roku interface is great.
- Service is stable, minimal buffering
Cons:
- No BTN
- No DVR
- No true "Guide"

Playstation Vue
Pros:
- DVR
- Decent channel guide on non Roku devices (not a fan of horizontal channel scrolling)
- Has BTN and BTN alternates
- Service is stable, minimal buffering
Cons:
- No FSWI, but can use FoxSports GO app
- Roku interface is terrible

DirecTV Now
Pros:
- Lots of channels
- $5 HBO (at least at the moment)
- Excellent Guide
- BTN
Cons:
- Service is unstable. Lots of buffering, errors, although its slowly getting better.
- No FSWI, and no FoxSport GO app login, so Bucks/Brewer games are currently unavailable.
- No Roku (yet)
- No DVR

Unless DirecTV Now either gives me a FSWI channel, or allows me to login to FoxSports GO, I'll be dropping them pretty quickly. Its been a giant mess with errors and streaming and AT&T should be embarrassed. At least the streaming has gotten better. I was able to watch the Badger game on DirecTV Now without a blip last night.

For Wisconsin Sports Fans, Playstation Vue seems to be the way to go. If you aren't a Badger fan, go with either Sling TV or Playstation Vue.

Thanks, really appreciate it. Can you Chromecast the fox sports app to the TV?

So far I've been very satisfied with Sling. Couple of glitches here and there but for the first time in mnay years I've been able to watch the Bucks! That's huge for me. I'm now looking for a faster, cheaper internet service. Any suggestions?

NBA League Pass and MLB Extra Innings are pretty much your only options.

So...I have sling which is great, but if I could get buck/brewer games on a kodi fire stick, that would be perfect. Is this possible? Thnx

Just started using the FoxGo app (use another friends Uverse login). My god is it awful... jumps all over the place nonstop. Are there other options for catching Bucks game? I just have antenna TV at my place, and then I use my friends Uverse login for ESPN and other channels. The Uverse app doesn't allow me to stream FSW for some reason.

Thinking of getting Sling. We have an old TV that isn't internet equipped. We use a BluRay player right now to run netflix off of it. What is your advice for hooking up the TV? Get a Roku box? Get a new smart TV that can run sling?

I have 3 Rokus (Roki?) and I am very pleased. Get the model with the headphone jack in the remote, it's a great feature, I don't have the voice search remote feature. I don't use Sling, but there are great channels out there with amazing content; Plex with its many private channels, Xtv, etc. on top of Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc.

If you guys are interested, thought I'd let you cordcutters know that Charter/TW now offers the faster 100 or 300mbit download packages. Requires an activation fee of $200, but you can often convince them to get rid of it by saying "It's literally uploading a different file to the modem, how does that cost 200 bucks". Otherwise it's ~85-90 a month for the 300. The 60mbit should now only cost about 44.99 a month.

I don't believe they are advertising it yet, but if you press them a little bit they will relent

I share those frustrations. The Dish/Charter/DirecTV prices have been ridiculous of late as well. So I am going to try something else.

I've ordered this:

and will report back.

I am still working on how to replace Dish as well.

http://www.theverge.com/2017/2/28/14750894/youtube-streaming-tv-service-announced-hd-live-cable-channels

At an event in Los Angeles this afternoon, YouTube announced its own streaming TV service. The offering will mix live-streams of broadcast and cable television programming with the wealth of online video found on YouTube. It’s the latest in a surge of over-the-top (OTT) services trying to woo consumers who never bought into traditional cable television.

For $35 a month, subscribers get all four major networks - ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC - and around 30 of the biggest cable channels. Sadly, like many other streaming bundles, it has gaps. YouTube TV, as it’s called, will be missing channels from Viacom.

Yeah, U-Verse is expensive. I've been waiting on a chance to switch - PSVue looks intriguing to me, but they don't have FSWI and although you can watch it through FoxSports Go, you don't get the DVR capabilities from my understanding. I usually start many Bucks/Brewerrs/Packers games 30-45 minutes after they start, and with none of the major networks or FSWI offered through the PSVue package, I'm kinda screwed if I don't want to watch that live.

https://www.engadget.com/2017/02/28/youtube-tv-is-googles-live-tv-service/

Uhh wow...

Networks taking part include CBS, Fox, NBC and CBS along with USA and FX. Sports networks include ESPN, Fox Sports and NBCSN -- there's a total of 10 sports networks available. You can also add on Showtime for an additional fee. Local networks for your area will also be included, so you can get the local news and programming broadcasts from the channels you'd see over the air. All in all, the total of 40 networks is similar to what you get from something like Sony's PlayStation Vue.

YouTube TV also includes unlimited cloud DVR storage, so you can add any series or sports team to your favorites and it'll save all of them for you. Naturally, YouTube will also use the massive amount of data is has on your interests to help serve you recommendations thanks to its machine learning network. YouTube TV will also eventually work with Google Home, so you can ask Home to start playing a show on your Chromecast and it'll "just work."

Very compelling, but no answer on FSNWI, and no Viacom networks are a pretty significant omission.
