Splatoon is cool but I just cannot play FPS games on consoles.

In one of the most Nintendo things ever, the two Famicom Detective games (which I wasn't getting anyways, but whatever) are two separate games, not a two-in-one. And when you order one, you can get a whopping 10% off the other! Two games remade from the 80s can be yours for $66.50.

I'm sure I'll eventually be able to get into it, but they throw you into the middle of the story in the demo with a bunch of angsty characters and you sit (or fast forward) through legitimately like 20m of dialogue before you get to the battle and I just could not be bothered. I think I'm just not in the right mood for it right now. Let me know what you think!

Will do. Personally I'm hoping the story ends up being a big selling point. When looking at comments on this game I saw people bringing up Fell Seal, a FFT-like game. Tons were calling it a must play if you liked FFT, but a lot also said the story kinda sucked too. I don't think you can call a game for FFT fans if your story isn't also incredible, since a main selling point of FFT is the story is on the pantheon of all time great gaming tales.
Will say that I didn't love the voice acting in the brief PTS trailer. Sounded dumb.

Re: OT: Video Game Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos Thread
• SPT is absolutely a FFT successor. As I was playing it I even looked over at my pet as if to say, "Yooo, you believe this?".
• I think the animation is great and the stages are beautiful, but the characters need work to become more distinguishable
• Soundtrack is great
• The voice acting can go straight to hell. It's IMPOSSIBLY bad. You know that Bill and Ted scene where they're talking to the English babes for the first time, and it's played like a bit? That's what the voice acting is like here, only it's serious. They can't have American voice actors performing olde english crappy lines. Get rid of the voice acting, or get new actors, or re-write the script.
• The game needs beautiful portraits of the characters when they speak.
• Gameplay was solid. I got used to the commands quickly.
Can't complain about the Switch now. I would buy it just to play this game.

I'll try again today. I'm not as big of an FFT fan as you, but I definitely am a fan, so should suffer through the 'dropped you into the story' slog. I'll probably just fast forward.
Couple things though. While I'm sure it is intended to be the FFT spiritual successor, it's actually an Octopath successor. So the graphics - including sprites looking the same - the bad voice acting, portraits - those are all Octopath things. Maybe - hopefully - with enough fan feedback those things can be changed, but just throwing it out there so you brace your expectations

As an aside, Octopath's stories - or at least the ones I completed - were wonderful. They were old school RPG, but at the same time they were not JRPG cliches. If it's the same writers here, I think you'll be pleased. It was what kept me going in the game, despite not being the biggest fan of the graphics style. I love sprites, but I HATE that blurred/bokeh effect on the background. The game perpetually looks like a dream sequence.

Re: OT: Video Game Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos Thread
Y'all, I'm so paralyzed by deciding on a mouse for some reason. The only reason I need a lot of buttons is to play PoE, but I also don't need it, so should I let that make my decision? If I don't need macro-able buttons, should I go for one of these super lightweights? But do I really want to spend that much money if I'm not (I'm not) playing FPS games like it seems like is the primary use of the Viper and G Pro? I also don't want to charge like every other day, and I see the allure of the Razer mice with their own charging stands. But then, if it lasts like an entire week, plugging it in once a week isn't a big deal.
This is what it's like to be me btw.

The state of basketball in Wisconsin is currently in the trashcan, so I've just carried on with my research to be blissfully ignorant to the games...
...and I think I'm going to do the only logical thing and order the most expensive mouse possible, the Razer Basilisk Ultimate.

Decision indecision, it is an old friend. I did start playing a lot of FPS after getting my lightweight mouse, but I still love it for everything. The O- might be my favorite mouse I’ve owned over stuff I’ve owned across Logitech, Razer, and Steel Series. But if you’re digging the Basilisk, go for it.

Re: OT: Video Game Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos Thread
I've played about two hours of Valheim. I've found the game to be relaxing, enjoying the music. Built some tools, a little house, workbench, bonfire + cooking station. Not quite sure what I'm supposed to do next, guess I'll just wander around and craft more stuff.

This (D2) is the best thing Blizzard has ever done in my eyes. If they do this remake right, I will buy this on at least two (PC, Switch) - and maybe 3 (PS5) - platforms. I will play this for hundreds and hundreds of hours. I am so **** excited this is real and just hope that they learned their lessons from what seemed like failed W3 and WoW Classic launches.

Think it's about time for my first Bloodborne replay.

I don't think I've ever played DII. I played Diablo I because of the hype when it arrived, but bounced. Skipped the second and ended up dumping hundreds and hundreds of hours into DIII. Looking forward to playing this.

Re: OT: Video Game Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos Thread
Just got the Razer Basalisk Ultimate. It's charging up right now, but generally just love the feel of it. After using an ambidextrous replacement mouse this week, I really noticed how much I prefer an ergonomic right handed mouse. It feels great, is 40g lighter than my last, and has lots of buttons. Can't believe I spent $150 on a mouse, but excited to really try it out in PoE or another ARPG.

I've got a table full of unopened Razer peripherals that I'm refusing to open until my laptop gets here next week. I'm excite.
