Lost in all of this is Dame gets reunited with Stotts.

And we get reunited with Epi.

Not only are we going to be really good, but it's a feel good story too...lol.

Dame/AJJ
Marjon/Beasley
Middleton/Pat
Giannis/Jae
Brook/Bobby

I mean, given how stacked that starting 5 is, we're not exactly thin on the bench either.

I'm still in shock here a little. Can't believe they got him even though I just told my daughter LAST NIGHT to watch out for the Bucks in the Dame sweepstakes (not even sure I believed it).

I was thinking about that a few minutes ago. You couldn't have scripted this any better.

Dame has a history of wanting to play with Giannis.

Plenty reasonable to believe he preferred playing here vs Toronto too.

Reasonable to suspect he made that known to Masai as well.

Raptors offer OG this deal doesn't happen.

But the fit makes the Bucks much more dangerous in the post season. Who is the Bucks leading scorer? Who gets the ball for a last minute game winner?

The key will be how Lillard impacts the defense. Giannis and Lopez can secure the rim, but Lillard exposes the Bucks on the perimeter. Who will guard star back court players? Do the Bucks have a smaller PJ Tucker type who can guard PGs and SGs? because Lillard can't. Hard to believe that a championship level starter will emerge from the minimum vet acquisitions or 2nd round picks they added in the last few months.

Finally, props to Horst for never giving up and for ownership for spending big for what is likely a two year window.

The Bucks most definitely did not give up more than they received. They landed a top 10 player without giving up one. You win the trade if you get the best player in the deal. They got the best player in the deal.

There is risk in this trade, but its in the pick and the swaps. In 2028-30 Giannis will be 33-35, Dame will be 38-40 and Midds will be 37-39. Its absolutely possible that the Bucks window has closed by that point and Portland will be right in the middle of there's. But this trade made them better next season without a doubt.

Who that 5th player and sometimes 4th player is in closing minutes will I think be really fascinating. We'll certainly see some Giannis at the 5 lineups. But when Brook is still in, as far as the 5th I think Pat would definitely be the safe bet. Against a big team like Denver I could see them going big with Giannis, Bobby and Brook. Against a team with a weaker offensive player do you try to keep the shooting strong and see if you can figure out ways to schematically hide Beasley on defense. Against Cleveland do you live with playing 4 on 5 on offense because you want to have AJJ defending Garland or Spider. It'll be fun to see this season.

Wish they would have resigned Wes Matthews now.
Dealing with people who exhibit the "smartest person in the room" syndrome can be a challenge. One approach is to listen their opinion while also encouraging open-mindedness. It's important to create an environment where all voices are valued.

This was my angle about the Bucks getting involved in trading for Dame. GA wanted to play with Dame, Dame requests trade, Bucks already(?) hired Stotts as lead assistant.

There are a lot of levels to this.

Imagine the looks Dame is going to get playing with Giannis.

Imagine teams not being able to swarm Giannis hard because you have to pick up Dame at half court and it's probably wise to keep a 2nd defender near by.

Imagine Khris as a 3rd option.

This could be fun.

Right, but you have to give something up. If I'm Por I prefer the far out unprotected over two firsts in the next 3 years. And at least two of those even we are trash and give up a top 7 pick we're getting Portland's say 18th pick back or whatever it. Yea the absolute crap luck of handing over a #1-3 pick could happen 3 times, but you have to give something and at least in two of those years you're getting their first back if it happens.

Saw another recent post on tampering. I just don't understand how it's tampering for us to do it but not for MIA. Or the other like 20 similar 'trade demand' trades that have happened in recent years.
