Bucks force Griif to consult Doc. Griff gets fired despite consultation. Bucks hire Doc.

This is the only thing I can think of:

That’s Woj just making it seem like the Bucks haven’t backdoor’d Griff, for the Bucks and for ESPN.

For those that don't want Doc... What is your reasoning? I don't know much about him...

A lot of sad poetry writing tonight.

He came with hope and promise
To lead the Bucks to glory
He had a star-studded roster
And a bright and thrilling story

He started off with fire
And won many games and hearts
He made the Bucks a contender
And a force in both the charts

But something went awry
And the Bucks began to falter
They lost their edge and spirit
And their defense became a slaughter

The fans grew restless and angry
And the media turned sour
They blamed him for the failures
And they questioned his power

He tried to fix the problems
And to rally his team and staff
He showed them his commitment
And he gave them all he had

But it was not enough
And the Bucks decided to part
They fired him midseason
And they broke his loyal heart

He left with pain and sorrow
And a sense of disbelief
He had a dream and vision
But he could not find relief

He was a good and honest coach
And he deserved a better fate
He will always be remembered
As a Buck who was great

I don't blame Doc for the Sixers collapsing that year, but his response to it was bad. All he had to say was some generic "you win as a team lose as a team" type of stuff instead he says "I don't know" and basically forced Simmons out and humiliated him.

He has a long, long history of giving up big leads in the postseason. His championship run with the celtics is an anomaly. I personally think he's a much better option than Griffin, but that doesn't make him an elite coach.

He is pretty good at taking a mediocre team and getting them to the playoffs but that's about it.

Bucks havent even talked to Doc yet? Woj just farming impressions

Doc is a huge upgrade over Griff, and Doc isn't good. Bucks win today no matter the hire.

Wouldn't be shocking if he sabotaged Griff with his "advice" to get this gig

Yeah, this is the correct take from that blurb to me. If he's been consulting Griff then why haven't we looked at all better? Is Griff just not listening? Maybe Doc realized he has a pupil that just isn't getting it and let the Org know? Because surely it would be the same red flag to them as it is to us reading that.

The more I think about it the more it has to be Atkinson. He was one of the three finalists even when Doc was available. You could give him a long term contract because he has already been vetted. Getting him out of his GSW contract is probably the hold up.

Who would be available next year that would be good? Darvin?
