I was at a concert at Summerfest last night when I relayed this. I just did some digging and confirmed the listing I was sent is owned by Bobby. $1,695,000 if any of you are interested!

That’s the first thing I thought, too. Did he sell his house after he got robbed?

We finally have a chance to build a switchable roster, and Horst responds by bringing in the 2 littlest dudes he can find.

He’s looking for his Jose Alvarado/Payton Pritchard/TJ McConnell/Davion Mitchell.

It’s short guy summer for Horts.

Using deduction, he will probably bring in Tyus Jones by the end of the offseason.

I wish these 2 were close to as big as any of those dudes.

If Mark Sears can defend 94’ in similar fashion to McConnell and put pressure on the ball handler all the way up the floor, he can carve out a similar role. Dude can flat out score the ball and shoot the lights out, turning him into a pesky full court defender will be the big challenge. He could stick, tho. It’s certainly not out of the realm of possibility. He just needs to make his mark as a hustle, non stop motor guy and the rest will fall in line imo.

He's not that quick to make any kind of impact defending 94'. If he can flat out score, why did he shoot 40% from three floor as a super senior playing in a pro offense surrounded by talent? Why did he shoot 38% from the floor in the combine scrimmages, while playing against a bunch of guys that won't make it in the league?

Sears will be no different than every other undersized PG Horst has wasted a 2 way contract on, and there's been a lot. We don't need chuckers.

We once wasted a spot on Jevon Carter who was useful

Carter was an absolutely terrific defender in college, scored just as much as Sears, on better efficiency.

Jevon Carter did not “score just as much as Sears” in college. Jose Alvarado also measured a shorter wingspan (6’1) than Sears.

Hard to get too upset picking up a first team all american. Good pick-up at no cost and may have a place in the league. He's a really good shooter, who should be fine playing with better players than himself.

The "Giannis needs a floor spacing 5 next to him" thing has always been silly to me. Get as athletic as possible and that starts in the front court. If we're gonna win in the low 40s we might as well experiment and see what Giannis can do with some other athletic, defensively mobile dudes next to him.

You would think you'd have learned a lesson the last few years bringing in athletes with few skills.

There's a reason you didn't state bring in athletes AND skilled players. It's because you know they are hard to find and are drafted early or cost too much.

I'm with Vecenie. Bring in guys with basketball skills AND positional size. If they're athletic, great. There aren't many guys like Giannis who are raw athletes and then get the skills after they are drafted.

So there's no other players we could pick up on a 2 way that could find a spot in the league?

Giannis was drafted as more for his ability to drive and pass than his run and jump ability.

Of our current group of 2 ways I think Sears easily has the best chance of making it in the NBA(it's low which is true of all two ways)

I do think there are some who believe their preferences at a pick like 47 or even on 2-ways would be useful most of the time, when for the average GM it's 10-15%. The last point at which, if you're a good talent evaluator, you can get a useful player most of the time, is in the early 2nd.

If Sears didn't have some of these deficiencies/concerns, he would have been drafted. He should not have been drafted. A top college player is a reasonable use of 1 of 3 2-way spots, even if the lack of height/length will likely not enable him to translate. I'm OK w/ us finding out.

Yes, we should replace all 3- 2 ways.

How much compensation would you give Philly in a sign and trade for RFA Quentin Grimes? He'd be a perfect addition here.
