You telling me a healthy Lebron and Davis don't cruise to a chip with Holiday at their side? Middleton can definitely be a #3 on a trophy team as well. The real problem with this team isn't having two 3's and no number 2 guy. The real problem with this team is that come playoff time, this team has no number 1. You can't win a NBA title with no number 1.

Yeah I think Giannis can be the *best player* on a title-winning team, but not as the offensive engine. You either need to have insane basketball IQ (he doesn't) or the ability to consistently hit shots all over the floor (he most certainly doesn't). When he decided to start trying to trade iso jumpers in the first quarter yesterday it really drove that home for me for the first time. And it's against an ostensibly awful defensive team - no "well the Heat/Raptors are set up to defend Giannis" excuses apply here.

We took the security of Jrue being relatively young and healthy over CP3 and his question marks, but CP3 is the guy we needed to put next to Giannis. Otherwise we really need a Curry/Irving/Lillard type. I love Jrue to death but we're just asking too much of him right now.

If Jrue does everything he's done plus make his open jumpers - particularly 3's - in the playoffs, he's perfectly fine, and the Bucks are perfectly fine.

When we win the chip and Jrue’s unlikely incentives put us in the luxury tax, will the owners be happy or despondent?

Happy. Their brand will increase in value, they'll sell more merch, get more advertising dollars, and raise prices on everything.

And winning a ship is way cool.

Jrue hasn't been good in these playoffs. 14.3 points on a 48.5 TS% isn't the tertiary scorer we signed up for. While his passing has been better, from a scoring standpoint, he's been every bit of the dud Bled was.

Mitigated somewhat by that huge clutch play to win us game 3.

I mean. Yeah, theres a very small chance we win that game without that play.

Hes been fine overall but he needs to step up now. Bully time.

He's been pretty bad offensively, at least in games 3/4 he started attacking more, 1/2 he was so passive

Not shooting Bledsoe bad, but not shooting good either, 25% from 3pt, yuck

Hoping he gets going tonight with not having to guard Kyrie since I don't think we can count on PJ hitting three's like he was last game

If he plays up to snuff, he doesn't need to make that play, but he didn't and we were.

No, he's very much shooting Bledsoe bad.

Jrue in 2021 14.3 points on 48.5TS%
Bled in 2020 11.7 points on 48.0TS%
Bled in 2019 13.7 points on 49.4TS%
Bled in 2018 13.6 points on 51.2TS%

I can't believe how rough Jrue has been, I didn't see that coming. I'm very confident he's a better player than Bled. Which leads me to wonder/question if the real problem is the half court offensive system and planning?

Don't know how you can blame the system when he's getting the same 3PT looks that he was knocking down at a 39% clip in the regular season. Really thought that step-back 3 was gonna be a weapon for him, but it's been brutal watching him shoot.

Him shooting 15.4% on wide open 3s (2/13) isn't helping. At least he is shooting 35.3% on open 3s (6/17). He's also shooting about 10% worse in the restricted area.

100% the type of (non)system that we run where it depends on Gianni or Middleton breaking someone down and either scoring or distributing. For whatever reason, Bud brought in geek-ball/analytics/whatever and just figured if he has four "shooters" around Gianni and increases his usage rate, you'll get a regular season juggernaut (which, to his credit, happened). But this team then became the Rockets of the East where they play a certain way on both sides of the ball, and teams can out-scheme them.

I've seen too many instances of Jrue coming to get the ball to initiate the offense and Freak and Khris (to a lesser extent) ignore him and bring up the ball anyway, when Holiday is clearly the best option to be lead G/initiator on offense, as he is the best handler on the team. I don't think he's suited to be an off-guard who catches-and-shoots. The team brought him in to lessen the burden on Freak and Midds in the 4th and allow them to get to their spots without having to initiate the offense.
