Good defense creates offensive opportunities

Furthermore, how many points have opposing teams gotten because of offensive rebounds? Atlanta had 15 last night and had 21 more total rebounds than the Bucks. A guy like Biyombo doesn't score for you (which, incidentally, doesn't change much from the current anemic offense minus Khris), but he does help stop offensive possessions and possibly keeps yours alive.

I can't imagine Biyombo on a Bud coached team.

Aaron Baynes would be an ok stopgap.

My impression has been that Bobby took the huge discount in part because we offered him both the longer term deal we can offer this next offseason as well as a more significant role as Lopez goes out to pasture.

But maybe that's not right.

Portis of course is still highly valuable as a super-sub and that very well might be the most we indicated he'd get here minutes-wise.

Of course there is a difference if we are looking for a backup caliber 5 to fill in (like Biyombo or Ersan or whoever) vs if we need a more substantial piece to replace BroLo now as well as for seasons to come.

IMO there’s no way Bobby is going to be a starter going forward. Only if they move giannis to center longterm which I don’t see happening. I love Bobby but he’s easily grown into the most overrated player on this team. He’s a stretch four and that’s about it. I’d be really shaky with giving him a big extension next year

It’s risky but I keep going back to Bagley. I don’t even know if he’s good or what it would take to acquire him, but that seems like a savvy move to me depending on the price

Bagley makes 11.3M. The only way I could see him possibly ending up on the Bucks would be if he got cut and agreed to the minimum.

Orlando has to be the obvious target. When Isaac comes back they’re going to have an even more loaded front court. Carter just re-signed and Isaac is locked in long term at big money. They also have Wagner and Okeke as young guys. Lopez is the cheap option. I’ve ruled out Bamba but perhaps he might actually be had considering he’s a pending free agent.

I think we would have a better answer to this if Brook were the only one injured. Right now with such a depleted roster, Portis isn't exactly in a position to succeed. Despite that, it's looking unlikely that he'll be an adequate starter at C.

He's neither a room protector or rebounder, so he doesn't address our supposed need.

Love the idea of a room protector

I'm ready for Cheick Diallo. He's undersized and doesn't create much space for Gianiss, but he's high energy rim runner / protector, rebounder with extra Jrue chemistry from NOLA days.

He's in Europe or wherever just waiting for this opportunity.

I was a big Bagley guy (of course haha) of him coming out of college and after his rookie year (especially the latter half of it). Even if you could make the salaries work which is very hard to do. The best I could do is wait until Dec 15th and trade Hill, Hood, Semi, and Nwora.

But even if you make that work, I just dont think he helps any hole that you guys currently have. His rebounding is basically equal to Portis. He doesnt bring any kind of rim protection either. And he is a horrible defender. You'd basically just be trading to get a more expensive and worse version of Bobby Portis.

100% unconcerned with rebounding. Would like a second FP/C who can play D tho.

On the Bill Simmons pod the other night, Tjarks mused that Giannis should be thinking about his second act, namely recruiting Karl Anthony Towns to the Bucks over the next 2-3 years.

If we are opting for an unproven big, gimme Daniel Oturu. Got drafted at #33 in 2020. He's a mobile big with impressive physical tools who can stretch the floor (at least on paper). Got traded by the Clips in the Bledsoe trade. He was waived in September by the Grizzlies cause they were trying to trim their roster down to 15 players.
