I just voted Baldwin, but did it take away my Davis vote? You may need to lock this and do a re-do.

Just played around and changed a couple of times and it did indeed take it away from my previous vote. I think we're good. Maybe someone voted Davis as you changed so Davis' total stayed the same?
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

This thread is about 1st round picks, Baldwin will be available in the 2nd.

As usual, you seem very intoxicated.

Don't know much about him so I could be wrong. Going off of mocks.

Even if he doesn't go in the 2nd round, many projections have him going much lower than #10. If he is that good then go get him. I mean Giannis wasn't projected to go that high and we stole him. I just want the best player, no matter what.

I don't know enough to make a vote. I did see the Antonio Davis comparisons for Deyonta. If that is what we are getting, I would be all for that. We need defense on this team.

I just figured that if I want a defensive C I want one that can hang with smaller, quicker matchups and be able to switch. Looks like a better bet in that regard than Poeltl.

When it comes to this draft after Simmons, Ingram, and Hield that is 100% correct which is why I just looked at the mock drafts that show Baldwin in late 1st/early 2nd.

Not sure why so hostile.

Not trying to be hostile, just bored and you ended up in my sites for questioning my ability to understand the OP. Then to back up the claims with BB and Draft.net as platforms for you little soapbox? I don't ever pretend to be an expert, and I'm sure there are plenty out there that have stats and metrics on speed dial that could dispel many of my angles and preferences. But I'll put a little reasoning out there for sakes of argument. I like a guy like Baldy for a lot of reasons, as there are a lot of intriguing aspects. Yes, I consider fit in this particular arena. Usually I don't like the concept...but when you can look at your graded tiers and you find yourself running through the separation factors and eventually you get to the one that reads [Fit: Y/N]. Now I could certainly consider DD as well, and he may very well make it down to the Fit quantification. Then I start to project into later into the draft and the options that could present themselves there. So at that point, assuming we're at a deadlock grade out, I'm constructing data on the pool size. I think there is much better value and better graded bigs vs smalls as you get into the second. Again, not a level 1 grading factor...but down the list it exists in my book. So now lets get back to IV. I think he does so much that we are looking for in the 'PG' next to GA. He can stroke the 3 and D up both guard spots. Is he there yet on NBA level D? maybe not, but too many tools to not think he'll get there. I am getting a little tired of hearing the term 3&D, and while that's essentially what you're looking for from the guy you line up next to GA, I think that would be selling Wade short. He's got he warts, but I think they are the kind that can be minimized in time, or in scheme. At #10 I'm hoping for a guy I can slot in next to our core and I think Baldwin fits that bill as well as anyone in the draft, let alone at #10. Please don't misconstrue that as I would take Baldwin 1-3 or anything, but at #10, I think based on the board, it's close to a no brainer.

Voting for Prince and Beasley is ban worthy, imo.

Where is that 7'0 with guard skills? What is his nane? Saw a video and seemed like a Kevin Garnett potential... So if Poelt is off I would gamble on him. Athletic Long matches with our young core. I wouldn't take Baldwin cause there is a similar cheap option ... Thanasis Antetokounmpo... He is a crazy athlete, great defender, long and cheap.

Beasley. Idk, but in terms of the guards, he looks the most explosive. Hits the 3 at a good rate and would have great size to defend the PG. would also be a monster in transition and with MAP, that team is naturally going to get out and run all the time. You add a Beasley, you get 4 guys that can grab a rebound and go coast to coast. Idk. I just don't see this "lack of elite athleticism" when I watch him. He's constantly flying around the court and looks quick as hell doing it.

Don't love Baldwin. Seems to cap out at a 3+D guy. I mentioned this before, but I'm still all about going for a star. Hell, Beasley could turn out to be exactly what Hield is as a senior.

I would draft Beasley long before Baldwin.

Maker is moving up my board for our pick at #10.

As you can tell with Skal and now Maker, I am wanting to take on some risk for real potential upside.

Still on team Poeltl at this stage. Just think he will be a very solid big, good starting C in the NBA that will be a nice addition to our core. Wouldn't be upset with Davis or if we liked what we saw from Skal and took a risk.
