The Brooklyn pick is on another level to our available assets.

Now that LAL pick with Brog and Mids...hmm.

If we really offered that for Kyrie we're f*cked and this has Kidd's fingerprints all over it.

I agree that the Nets pick is the reason that Cleveland opted for that trade. But who is the SG on the Cavs right now? Korver? They can't expect Crowder to be able to play SG. I would argue that Brogdon/Middleton/LeBron/Love/Thompson is a better rounded starting five than what they'll have now next year. I get why they did what they did but if the goal is to win a championship this year I probably take the Bucks offer. It will be interesting to see how things play out now. Do the Cavs try to trade Love for a SG?

This news doesn't exactly engender confidence in the priorities of our f.o., not that we should have had it in them already. Namezz over gamezz.

Thanks Cavs and Celtics, for bailing us out, at least for now. We got our stay of execution.

We could get creative and make a trade that actually helped improve our short and long term future outlooks, but I don't trust this f.o. one iota so I'd prefer they maintain the motto of this boring offseason that is to do less.

Man, that would have been the boldest trade that this team has made in years, IMO. That would have taken stones for Horst to pull that trigger.

The Boston trade was better for Cleveland, but I would have said yes to that move and I like Brogdon and Middleton quite a bit.

I would have not been thrilled with the proposed Bucks/Irving deal.

Thank God for Boston. Man, that would've been a bad trade.

Yeah, IT was really impressive last season. Ridiculous scoring performance despite being the only real option on his team (except for Horford I guess)

Definitely think the Cavs got better. Even if IT and Kyrie is a wash, they still got Crowder which is a pretty big piece for a contender to add

I live in PHX. Gambo is kind of a dbag but definitely has good NBA sources so this is probably pretty accurate.

My problems with IT are that he's the worst defender in the league and he's coming off a career season which I don't think he can repeat. I wouldn't be surprised to see Boston win the East this year if Cleveland doesn't move that pick. I'm not a fan of Kyrie either but he's younger and I'd rather have him than IT (even though I think IT was better last season).

Pelton:

In RPM's estimation, Boston should get much worse production in place of Crowder. The Celtics were relatively ineffective with Brown on the court last season -- his minus-2.2 on-court net rating was worst among Boston regulars -- while most rookies do little to help their teams win, even ones as highly regarded as Tatum. As a result, Boston's RPM projection tumbles from 49.4 wins on average before the trade to 43.8, putting the Celtics fifth in the Eastern Conference. (Note that these projections haven't yet been adjusted for schedule, though that doesn't make a significant difference comparing within the East.)

Gonna LOL so hard if Milwaukee has a better record than Boston next season, as Pelton projects.

Don't know why people think IT is gonna suddenly get worse, provided he's healthy. He's going from playing next to no one to playing next to LeBron and Love.

"Provided he's healthy" with the hip and overall wear and tear given his lack of size. I'd say that's a pretty big factor. His efficiency spike is reason for pause as well.

So this bumps the Bucks up to 3rd seed in Pelton's projections?

Boston really needs to hit on the draft. Tatum looked promising in summer league, but I'm not bullish on him being a major piece. Kyrie and Hayward are not top-level elite options. Right now, Boston has a movement-killing lead guard who plays zero defense and a very good all-around player on a max contract with little room left for growth. They've gotten rid of 2/3 of their best wing and perimeter defenders and they look undersized up front again. Depth gets you through the regular season, but blue chip talent dictates how far you go in the playoffs. Boston is without that blue-chipper at the moment. Still have enough assets to get AD at the deadline or next summer, but I view the C's as a work-in-progress at this moment.

Is there a reason to believe his efficiency will go down now that he's playing next to LeBron and an elite floor spacer in Love?
