You're honestly lucky I even talk to you or even acknowledge your existence.

My uncle's girlfriend occasionally rents out a suite at Miller Park too though I haven't been there yet when she has.

Initially read this as girlfriend's uncle and my head exploded.

This morning, the Wisconsin Entertainment and Sports Center (WESC) announced its latest big name concert headed to the new Downtown venue: operatic singing extraordinaire Josh Groban, who will take the stage – along with very special guest Idina Menzel – on Nov. 3.

This raises me up, ah errr ummm...

We should all buy tickets to the Josh Groban concert and have a good cry.

Steve Costello, CEO of the BMO Harris Bradley Center, has a couple of Metallica guitars he'd like to sell you.
Make that one and a half guitars signed by the hard-rocking band during their appearances at the arena.

The second guitar might cost you more than the first — it was smashed on stage by a band member. The other one, like many of the guitars and other artifacts signed by performers, was not actually played but autographed and retained as a memento from the past 30 years.

"It's just a question of who's interested," Costello said. "It's a question of how fervent individuals are and their wherewithal."
For some collectors, a guitar that met its demise during a show is far more valuable than one that was signed but never played, he noted.

Costello has hired Great Lakes Auction Co. Inc. of Milwaukee to sell the autographed instruments and other Bradley Center kitchen equipment, seats, furniture and artifacts.

It's another bittersweet step that needs to be taken as the end of the road nears for the arena, which is scheduled to hold its final event in July, the annual gathering of Northwestern Mutual agents.

The Bradley Center is being replaced as the new home for the Milwaukee Bucks and Marquette University basketball teams by the $524 million Bucks arena under construction just to the north. Built with $250 million in taxpayer money, the new arena is scheduled to open in late summer.

How the Bradley Center sales will be conducted is not yet known, but Costello says it likely will be a combination of online and maybe a live auction, starting sometime in May.

"We think a live auction would be exciting, but it doesn't necessarily generate the largest amount of money."

The sales are projected to generate $400,000 to $500,000, Costello said. The money will go to fund wind-down operations at the facility. Any additional money left over would be returned to state coffers.

Costello already has a tentative deal for sales of the LED panels on the arena's scoreboard. A price isn't set yet, in part because the Bucks have six more regular season home games scheduled.

The scoreboard was installed about eight years ago, and has a 10- to 15-year life, he said. Selling off the most important pieces of the scoreboard makes the most sense, Costello said.

"I don't know of a lot of people who need a 30-ton scoreboard in their basement."

In the months ahead, Costello said his focus is on more than the money the sales generate.

"Our focus is on making those final memories special," he said. "We're going to go out on a high note and stay focused on the fan experience."

Nostalgia for a familiar, old facility may be inevitable, but the overwhelming advantages of new environs will likely temper and possibly vanquish such sentimentality for "the bad old days":

I have a feeling they have a good idea of who the sponsor will be. They are just trying to hash out the details or see if someone else comes in at the end with a better offer.

OTOH, people forget how bad the Warriors used to be. When they renovated the arena that they currently play in, which was back in 1997, they didn't have naming rights. They just called it the "New Arena in Oakland" which eventually morphed into the "Arena in Oakland". Oracle didn't put naming rights on it until the 2006-07 season. Crazy to think that the NBA's dominant franchise was so bad at one point that they couldn't get naming rights for basically a decade.

They are putting in the risers that will hold the telescopic seating.

The arena roof has recently been cleared of nearly all materials & equipment.
Does this imply that the pursuit of naming rights has been abandoned for the forseeable future ?

I'm sure there are plenty of suitors. But LED wants naming rights based on a contender and companies are only willing to pay #8 seed money.

Gannett seems to not be able to sell the MJS building.

Too bad they didn't consider the Bucks offers back in the day.
