I don’t have much confidence that he can play 60+ regular season games plus go deep into the playoffs on a consistent basis.

If Donte can make it through most of the regular season and all of the playoffs it would be different than if he can't.

Either way I bet teams that aren't in the luxury tax would be willing to roll the dice on him with an offer higher than what the Bucks would make.

What we don't know is what kind of discount Donte would be willing to offer to secure his role on a contender for years to come.

Probably not much, given we tried to trade him. My point above is that if he makes it through the back half and playoffs, that still isn’t close to how a regular season operates. Unless we are resigning a mid 20s player only to give him significant load management. I wish him well, but would be in favor of a midseason trade that gets us someone tougher, taller, and more durable. I’m willing to give up the talent side that Donte has for that, because we will make it up with Giannis, Khris and Jrue.

Is Wes Mathews not on a team? Did he digress that badly in ten months?

He was awful on the Lakers last year and was also awful in the bubble before that. He only looked good in the 2019-20 regular season because of the Giannis Bump.

Grayson is just taking perimeter shots and will show more when he works out where his spots are in our offense.

Yes. Both Hill and Jrue took several games to start finding their spots and begin looking like the players we thought we were getting. I will say that Grayson looks pretty damn comfortable and confident out there already.

With the injury to Jrue, I am hopeful that Horst is working to sign Kris Dunn to a NG deal.

Double bonus of this signing, sets another comp for Donte's contract. With the injuries, I feel like a 3/39 with a third year option is probably the top I'd want to go. I'd be willing to do what we did with Brogdon as well and trade him if the market was there in the offseason.

Feel really good about the depth once all our guys get back.

Unlike with Hill and Jrue, you don't have to remind Grayson Allen to be aggressive with the ball. He's going to do what he can to take advantage. If you tell him "that's your shot, take it," he may never not take it again.

That mentality is super important both because defenses recognize it and will scramble to get back to you, and because we're working as a team to get those looks, so it's self-defeating to pass on them. Offensively, he's basically going to be Brogdon with a quick trigger from outside. Defensively he's more limited by his lack of length, but he's going to scrap and talk and play a team game. So kind of a poor man's Brogdon but with a tweaked skillset that's better utilized with our starters.

And if he's not open, that's even better for us.

Did the deadline to extend Nwora pass, or is there still an opportunity? We need to get him cheap now. If he lives up to his potential are we going to able to afford to match?

I don't think he's eligible for an extension because of the type of original contract he has.

Yes, he's going to get paid after the season.

I think I said/thought in an earlier thread that we wouldn't be able to match offers on Nwora above the Tax MLE because we'll be over the apron, but I think that wasn't right since we'll have his Early Bird rights.

Does anyone know who the person is? I keep seeing them with the team and behind the scenes on bucks players or bucks team instagram lol. I think he even travels with the team as I've seen him on the road. And he was high fiving guys getting their rings last night.

There's the "Gilbert Arenas provision", which I think could come into play.

Watching the other game last night, one player I'd love to get is Jordan Poole - an explosive athletic young guard. But it'd cost more than DDV to get him.

Right, but you still need the non-Tax MLE or Early Bird rights to match offers under that provision.

I can't see the Bucks re-signing DDV.

Yep. He is actually vicious and effective taking it to the cup and creating on the drive. Can't wait to see this aspect of his game for us,
