Re: Bucks Offseason Thread - Trade, news and re-tool discussion
Please please please please please for the love of god get some guys who can break down a defense and playmake. Literally don't know who we can get with our limited flexibility and assets, but a dude who can get guys their shots in rhythm while also protect the ball is essential. Enough of this bull of hoping that decent to good playmakers can become great to elite.

I'm down so bad I'm wondering how good the Bucks HC job actually is?

Giannis is still a perennial MVP candidate. There has to be a coach somewhere watching that game thinking "I can teach him."

There has to be some good coach out there who says "Hey, I know what a timeout is and how to use it!"

Jrue, Middleton, Allen three way deal for Dame. Bring it on.

That’s not going to do it for POR.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

He's talking a 3 way deal. Those guys for picks/assets to flip to Portland.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Yeah I don’t think we quite understand how dark this could get here. This team in its current form is done. I’m not sure how they navigate this with what we have.

We just had an absolutely disastrous and embarrassing playoff exit, could you maybe not do your usual thing of popping over here solely to dump on any Portland-related posts/trade ideas? Like just for a couple days at least?

Re: Bucks Offseason Thread - Trade, news and re-tool discussion
Building a contender and then actually winning a title is hard.
Embiid is a great player, the likely MVP. This is his 9th year. No championship, no Finals appearance.
Jokic is a 2X MVP, this is his 8th year. No championship, no Finals appearance.
Boston has had their Big 3 together for 6 years, no championships.
Certainly I want more but I'm also happy for the one we have.

Nurse and Dame. The rest won't be easy to figure out, but at least let them join forces before father time also comes for Dame. Ideas to follow, still sulking.

Yeah if Portland trades Dame they're gonna want a lot of picks. I'm not sure if it's achievable with what we have, even if we involve a third team. Dame is owed $45 mill next year which will be insanely hard to match.
If I had to guess:
* We re-sign Brook
* Midds opts out and who know wtf happens there
* Jrue is retained but won't be untouchable if there's a deal to upgrade the squad
* Grayson, Pat Bobby - all expendable if a deal is there to upgrade
* Ingles prob gone or back on a min deal at best
* Thanasis back on a min deal
* Wes prob gone but may stay for a vet min

Re: Bucks Offseason Thread - Trade, news and re-tool discussion
It's hard not to overreact to this series - but I think we all agree that Bud has hit the end of the runway.
Replacing the coach is to some extent the easy swap. Has no cap or draft implications. Not sure what I think of Nurse. Would definitely explore Kenny Atkinson.
It's hard to see a path to making this team younger, more dynamic and with greater flexibility. But that is what needs to be done around Giannis.
I think you keep Khris and hope he remains healthy. He's been here so long and he deserves to hang around in my view.
Jrue probably has the highest perceived value around the league. I would be gauging interest on him.
Brook should be kept at the right price. He has been so valuable this year and his skillset will be hard to replace.
Going to be a very interesting offseason.

Dame worries me a little bit. He was shut down the final 10 games this year for tanking purposes but missed 14 games before that and the year before he only played 29 games.
I'd still love to have him though.

We need a fresh, innovative style.
Jrue HAS to go. I’m gonna keep saying it.
Khris Will more than likely opt-in, but he will need his role reduced in the regular season — he’s a 16 game guy now.
Giannis will also need to be managed throughout the season.
Middleton isn't worth $40M for 16 games. Besides out of shape or injured. Trade him as well.

If you're Jrue Holiday, it would almost be hard to show your face in a Buck's uniform again after his performance. Like no matter what he does from this point on, I'll never be able to look at him the same from a basketball standpoint.

If he opts in, it’s still an expiring.
There’s also the chance that he opts out & takes a longer term deal for less money.
He was our best player in this series & seems to be the only guy who *thinks* the game well on this team.
He’s had a rough year, but you know what you’re getting from him at the end of the day.

He’s unplayable against good teams & undersized, so no.
Brook can stay, but needs his role reduced so that we can implement a new scheme defensively.
This team badly needs some 6’7 to 6’9 athletic 3&D prospects.

Khris isn't the same guy he used to be, but I think at this stage of career he could be a really good 6th man. If we can't get something for him that improves the team, I'd love him back if he'd accept a long-term deal at a 6th man salary.
