Depends on the tourney. But having bragging rights to trophies is something fans jaw about all the time. Champions League (European wide club tourney), Europa, Conference League are all pretty big. But things like Carabao Cup (England only tourney) usually get B/C squads for the bigger clubs.

Until the Semi's and later.

I'd watch to see how the team treats it but wouldn't care if they lost.

You won't feel that way if we made the final and you watched the other team lift a trophy.

Why is it hard to believe that some people don't care about a made up trophy that doesn't mean anything?

Why is it so hard not to be a scrooge? I don't know if you realize this or not, but ALL trophies are made up and don't mean anything until they do.

Poll should separate out "hate it" and "don't care". I want to shame all the "hate it" as irrational scrooges. Don't care is perfectly fine but IMHO kind of weird since 99% of NBA basketball is meaningless. Anything that incentivizes players to try even a little hard (rather than sit) a December Tuesday night game should be applauded.

I honestly hope that they make it to the final game and then rest everybody because it doesn't mean jack in the standings. They won't because you know Silver will be furious and manufacture another "tampering" charge sometime in the near future, but it would be hilarious to give him the middle finger like that and tell him to shove his stupid exhibition trophy you-know-where.

Right? Getting sanctimonious about anything in professional sports is funny since it's just a big TV show.

I'm glad this thing that means nothing seemingly brings so many of you joy. Good for y'all. If a star is injured because of this dumb tournament it'll be gone and no one will miss it.

Yes, that's what happens when someone gets injured. That's why there's no longer a regular season.

Nothing like calling people dorks on the internet while you sit at a computer and argue with strangers!

I like it because teams seem to care about it, and it adds interest to otherwise dull games.

See if teams care Year 2...

The tournament is the "Don't ask questions. Just consume content/product" meme in NBA form. I won't tell anybody that they can't enjoy it for what it is, but please spare me the existential "what even is a trophy, man?" stuff lol.

Being upset that players and teams are trying to win is weird. Isn't that what we all want? To watch high quality basketball?
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"
