I feel like ESPN always chooses the low hanging fruit when they are trying to hype something, even if the thing isn’t great (Lin, Lebron on a bad Laker team, etc). But now they have a legitimately transcendent player, and they’re acting like she isn’t anything special. LOL the difference in how the ncaa and wnba promoted Clark is crazy.

Even crazier is how other players want to kill the golden goose.

Re: ATL
Brandon Ingram remains one of the bigger open questions of the offseason.
https://clutchpoints.com/pelicans-news-brandon-ingram-drops-cryptic-post-about-value-amid-contract-drama
Brandon Ingram has ignited some speculation about his future with the New Orleans Pelicans. In a recent Instagram post, Ingram shared a clip from a motivational speaker discussing the importance of recognizing one’s value, which many interpreted as a subtle hint at his dissatisfaction with the current situation in New Orleans.
“You cannot stay in environments where people don’t know the true value of you,” the video starts. “If you stay in environments where people don’t recognize the value of you, you will shrink your gift to the size of what they can stand.”

Re: ATL
Ingram to me is the Brad Beal of small forwards. His best self is a dude who his does his own thing and he'll never be good enough for that to be a good idea.

So the Wizards franchise is at the stage where Evan Fournier is rejecting a 2-year guaranteed contract to play overseas.
By the way, it was crazy at the airport when he arrived, he seems genuinely hyped by the opportunity in playing here.

Curious what’s going on in Denver. They seem to be cheaping out a bit after winning the title (same way we did with PJ). Interesting to see how the youth movement plays out.

God, that is a **** of money for Murray lol. Had to if they wanted to keep him, but that doesn't change the numbers.

Khris at 31/yr or Murray at 52/yr for next 3 years? Just to paint a picture. Denver is in such a worse spot all the sudden. Don't think they are good enough to contend unless Murray becomes superstar in the playoffs, which is why I guess you pay him cuz it's a possibility

... He averaged 26/7/6 on their title run on 48/40/93.
Like, what is superstar to you?
Amos Barshad: "So you got a job, a place to live, a license? What’s left?"
Giannis: “Nothing. Just get a ring now.”

I said you pay him because it's a possibility? It can and has happened but he is injury prone and he was awful the last playoff and in the Olympics. They don't have a choice but to pay him, but their situation has taken a downturn which is a pretty popular opinion
And Khris has similar numbers in our finals run, is he a superstar to you? It's prob a really bad thing markets like Denver have to pay good top 30-40 guys like Murray 50m+ just to keep them in their city and remain a contender

Re: ATL
It's not entirely apples to apples. Murray is 6 years younger.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: ATL
Not at all apples to apples and I was never trying to paint it like that, but the contract has potential to be amongst the worst in the league and the NBA has a problem with top 30-50 guys getting near max contracts or else you lose them for nothing. Khris contract is looking pretty sweet after this offseason...

Re: ATL
Murray has always been super streaky. Can understand the concern but that contract is fairly standard for a player of his caliber (when he’s on, that is).
That’s the easy decision for Denver to make. Letting go of Bowen and KCP are the stranger ones imo. Like letting PJ go and thinking Nwora will be there to fill the void.

Re: ATL
Of course it's an easy decision. It doesn't change that it's kind of mind blowing that he'll be the 15th highest paid player in the league when that extension kicks-in.
Also, "when he's on" is kind of important, yeah? Especially when he pretty regularly misses 20 games a season. But even fully healthy this is a rich deal. I agree with Miltown that top 30-50 players all getting max contracts because the team can't afford not to is an issue. I don't have the fix, but it's a weird spot we're in.

All valid points but I’m not against these guys getting paid. Front offices at the end of the day have the choice to retain the player. Murray deserves it. He’s been such an integral part of delivering that first title.
