Re: Bucks/NBA Prediction Thread - Locks 10/22
Put me in the pessimist camp: I'm going 7th seed in the East behind Boston, Cleveland, Indiana, New York, Orlando and Philly. Four reasons:
1. I don't trust Doc, or his extensive staff, as the coach. I think he peaked as a coach in '08 when the Celts won the championship and has been riding the 'chip ever since. He's now a better media personality than coach.
2. I'd love to see Giannis take a step back on offense (25 ppg, for example) and a big step defensively (legit DPOY candidate), truly letting Dame run the show. However, I don't think he's going to do that, which will hurt the team.
3. One of our big 4 is going to get injured this year and we don't have the depth to cover it up.
4. Related, I don't see any of our young guys making a leap. They've barely played in the preseason and when they have, it hasn't been pretty.
I'd love to see this team prove me wrong, but this season feels like the beginning of the end for me.

But the good news is we don't have any draft picks next season offseason so we can screw that up.We could leak photos of our draft board to confuse other teams.
I edited the typo but take this And1 for good luck.

The Celtics will fall in the conference semis but Tatum's mom will insist he should still win Finals MVP.

Separate post for hot takes:
- Both the Thunder and Celtics lose in the 2nd round
- Clippers win a playoff series
- Jimmy Butler gets traded to Cleveland (Garland and picks)
- The Bucks win it all despite Middleton getting injured in the East Finals

The bolded would be completely shocking to me.

Re: Bucks/NBA Prediction Thread - Locks 10/22
4th seed, 51 wins, lose to Boston in 2nd round.
I think we see improvement over last year, and field an elite offense. I think the age and lack of foot speed are not overcome by Buckner on the defensive end, and that ends up being our undoing in the playoffs. I have Celtics, Knicks, Sixers ahead of us, and won't be shocked at all if Cavs are also in that group. They were right there and had a lot of injuries last year too. They upgraded head coach as well.
East is going to be an absolute war this year.

Re: Bucks/NBA Prediction Thread - Locks 10/22
Just listened to the annual over-under podcast from Bill Simmons.
Lost a little respect for those guys. Just a completely brain dead take on Milwaukee. Forget about contention, they think we are too old to be a 51 win team. I don't know how you can acknowledge that Giannis is still a top four player in the league but also come to that conclusion. The roster might not be ideal and we might be old but it's not like these guys are in their late 30s.
Im taking the over on that and i say we win 54 while dropping more than we should to manage some loads and prioritize health.
The starting 5 will have a ridiculous net rating and we will be seen as contenders again by the mid way point. Probably a slow start getting used to the changes and then off to the races.

I listened just now. They didn't say anything 90% of us haven't said. Simmons is still trying to wish into existence Giannis leaving Milwaukee.

that's my point, though. that's what makes it frustrating. they are seeing much of the same things we are seeing, and those flaws keep us from being a surefire title favorite. we all agree on that. but those flaws do not keep us from being a pretty safe 51+ win team barring significant injuries. this is the absolute worst time for me to be gambling, so i can't do it, but i would be absolutely smashing the over on us if i could right now.

Speaking of that, maybe that explains some of the pessimistic "predictions" across media & the league:

52 wins, coasting through a lot of the regular season to this board's dismay.
Better playoff health we advance to the East finals. Do we win? Imma lean towards no.

If we manage to stay healthy, championship. Bucks handle Boston in 6 and destroy the Mavs in the finals.
If not...48 wins and round one exit. Middleton misses half the year, Giannis misses a decent amount and rarely plays b2b.
We get embarrassed out of the playoffs after Giannis gets hurt again, then run it all back next season.

53-29, somewhere in the Top 4. ECF appearance after another 1st team All-NBA season from Freak and a bounce back season from Dame. Middleton progresses half the season and ramps up when we need him during the playoffs. Doc leads the league in techs/ejections when refs refuse to call fouls.

we won 49 games last year with Dame, Giannis, and Brolo having pretty damn good health. midds only played 55 but do you expect him to play much more? all are a year older.
it's really not that crazy.

Simmons, House and Russilo all took the over on the Suns. I’m there as well. Bud’s going to figure out how to use all those guys. And Tyus Jones will help weave it together.

57-25. Reasonably healthy, Trent makes himself a lot of money, AJ Johnson forces his way into the rotation, Dame looks great. Old man **** you tour ends in a chip.

Their players are going to get injured. Maybe he gets it together sometimes, but I'm not seeing old KD, broken Beal and inexplicably robust Nurkic managing to stay on court together. Their guys have more history than ours, and people aren't optimistic about our season in this regard.
Booker and Grayson will have to carry, and then some fringe guys will really need to step up.
