Yeah, if we don’t have to attach a pick to get Jimmy, go do it. Of all the names he’s the best player when he’s engaged.

What does a Bucks-Heat Butler trade look like.

Assume Pat goes to a third team and then Mids/Bobby to the Heat?

Is there any way to pry Love out coming back this way?

I could talk myself into this if the Heat made the payment to help us get Pat off the books.

Jimmy Butler is an ass, but he is not a dumbass. I don't think it's overly conspiratorial to suggest he's tanking his value on purpose so that his new team doesn't have to give up too much.

Unless he means that Miami is now more likely to take on salary beyond next season and Memphis has jumped back in, we're the only destination that seems to make any sense at this point.

I gave him the Giannis discount and he still looked unplayable. There's no reason to trade for players that you can't envision being in a playoff rotation.

I think if the Bucks want Jimmy we can get Jimmy.

And probably for as little as Khris + Bobby and not a lot more.

What other teams do we think Windy could be referring to being back in now that the price has dropped to a bargain level?

He referred to multiple teams, and good ones, since he said it could affect the outcome of the season.

Rockets offering FVV and change (not their favorite young players or picks) is my best guess.

I was trying to imply that the reason he looks unplayable is that he is unplayable.

I think the Rockets are probably one of the teams considering getting back in on it. Maybe someone like a Detroit or something? Obligatory Lakers mention for any marquee trade talks.

Raptors want to facilitate and Heat want Bruce Brown.

Bobby + Pat go to Toronto. Or they send Brown + Boucher to Miami for Middleton.

His splits over the last three years are interesting. The few games that I’ve seen the last two years he has struggled a bit defensively but he has also been on the floor with guys that have very little experience. This year he has been an afterthought as they work on developing the young guys. Anyway, I think he raises our team bbiq on both ends of the floor, improves our efficiency, and makes the game easier for others. I get that the return is a little underwhelming but that makes me think it could get us under the second apron a little cheaper than having to give a team a pick to eat a contract.

I was a huge, huge Collins fan coming out of Gonzaga. Obviously missing most of 3 consecutive years changed his trajectory, but I think the big thing people are missing about his on-offs is that he's coming off the Spurs bench, and specifically is backing up Wemby. He literally hasn't played with Wemby this season and not much last year, either.

You could definitely argue (I would) that Champagnie is the prize here. I like him a lot.

IMO this would be a solid solution for the lux tax issue, but I don't see the Spurs being interested.

Clears future cap space for them or they could ship Bobby off to another team for a pick etc. We could throw Livingston in the deal

I think this was asked but could you get Jimmy/Love for Khris/Bobby? Gotta think Love could give you some of the production you'd lose with Bobby.

BigO wrote:This is the response I recieved from the last thread on why the Bucks would take on Lavine's contract:

"LaVine’s deal is one year longer than Khris, and if your argument is it will be easier to trade an expiring Khris in 25/26 the same argument could be applied to an expiring LaVine in 26/27. He’s on the back end of his deal.

LaVine is a good player right now. He’s overpaid, but you can live with an overpaid good player."

I just don't see the owners taking on 2 and a half more seasons of Lavine at his price. It would handcuff the Bucks to do anything for three years. That would be 3 players each making 50 million a year. Not going to happen.

I couldn't say how ironclad the projections are, but there appears to be an effort to avoid the spike in Cap the last big TV contract negotiations gave that allowed Golden State with some minor efforts to clean cap to just sign a max Durant. However, the projections though place the cap at 200 million by the end of this decade and max contracts closing in on 100 million by 2032. Bad 5 year deals look worst in the first few years under any negotiated period and maybe Lavine falls into that category maybe he doesn't compared to a guy like Beal older, less productive, and the NTC. The new ever bigger NBA TV Deal begins in 2025-2026, the march to smooth out that bump in BRI will begin, but that may still mean jumps of 10 to 15 million per year to avoid some massive change. All of that to say it's possible a deal that drops us below the 2nd apron now, and a second deal that grabs a player they want to extend the window on a longer deal, which still has to fall under the apron, will look less bleak in the following couple of years. I'm not advocating for Lavine, just that I don't think that it is hard to manage that going forward as long as that cap is in a steady climb.

I also think one side effect of the current 2nd apron issues is that the loss of the exception hurts teams that would like to add one targeted guy in the offseason that fits into that salary demand, but the loss of that for multiple teams seems to have put a few more useful players into vet min prove it deals. I don't think Trent would have been a vet min in the pre-apron era as an example. Just fewer opportunities for some useful players to grab an exception, and maybe a lot fewer on the teams those players might want to. Don't think you want to depend on that for team building but that player pool isn't as thin as it was.

I think I like the idea of getting a rotation guy for a bargain as part of helping facilitate a Jimmy trade more than I like the idea of moving Middleton + for Jimmy. Admittedly, I emotionally struggle with the idea of moving Midds, so maybe I'm too close!

The post mortem on Mids last night from
Marquess makes me think Mids is going somewhere.

We can put his number up in the rafters some day (and we should). That's good enough; we don't need to hang onto him any longer :)

I have to assume that teams like Houston dont want to risk tainting the culture to being a guy like Jimmy in. Whats the rush for them?

Its gotta be teams more like us.

Golden State is the real dark horse imo.

Denver?

Minnesota??

The key is that he said it could completely change the landscape in a real way. That means someone goes to true contender status....or.....a true contender becomes an absolute juggernaut.

Hmmmmmmm

I’m just envisioning somehow being in a playoff situation where Midds can torch us.

Yeah, I was going to say that I see no reason why Houston would get involved with what they are building (and that’s working).
