It'd be nice if our 2nd year 2nd round combo guard could be trusted to play every position but I don't think that's what's killing us.

Those three guards emerging has kept the season interesting and righted us when we ran aground, but the reality is that anything we get from them should be gravy. We shouldn't have to rely on any of them for anything. We're over the 2nd apron for **** sake.

I agree, the roster is poorly constructed.

Pat’s salary along with the 2022 first or this past years 2024 first needed to go out for a better player. If we can’t draft worth a damn, then get immediate help by dealing those picks.

I didn't catch much of the game, but when I did Wemby was a monster.

I’d support bringing in AJ Johnson and letting him play with the starters a few games. Might be a disaster but this team needs some speed.

Horst missing on every single draft pick is why we struggle, when ajax and AJ green are your promising young players its gonna be a problem.

Who should be Marques? Dame or Khris & Portis together?

I like your idea.

A 2 or 3 super star based team doesn’t work anymore. See Phoenix and the Bucks.

We absolutely need a number of “good” not mediocre young players who are quick and young for our starting and bench groups. Plus Giannis the lone superstar.

Again I agree with you very strongly.

I have suggested bringing in AJ Johnson (and Tyler Smith too) on this board multiple times. No one seems enthusiastic about that; common replies have been they are in the G league and there too they are not the stars, and they are far from the Nba level etc.

We need the lightning speed of AJ Johnson now! The current team is going nowhere.

Green is young but by no means athletic. Ajax is terrbly limited; has almost zero offense ; Jevon Carter was better.

Wrighr has dropped out. Prince and Trent also are nowhere near as athletic as we are multiple players in so many teams who are just killing us with agility.

In fact Marjon I feel is more athletic than the ones mentioned in the previous paragraph.

Also renewal of Rollins is not warranted at all —- another slow player whose skills are ordinary at best.

For the record, I am officially on the play AJ Johnson bandwagon. Need to get younger and faster. He’s already rostered so f*ck it. Let’s go.

Dame

You’re not getting much for Middleton and Portis, and both guys can serve a purpose

Sadly we missed the time to trade Portis and Khris for some decent value. Id argue we pulled almost every wrong lever after winning the title. I like the Dame trade and think we could still win games in the postseason but the ancillary moves around that have been just not good and not forward thinking.

Well argued.

Yet we need to think which 2 or 3 young athletic players we can get if we are to lose a top 75 player like Dame at this juncture.

At the minimum, Horst needs to seriously think about this situation in this general direction now and not much later. Dame is a super offensive player but he is weak defensively and more than that, not athletic. Khris isn’t athletic at all but I can see trading him will not get us one or two high quality athletic young players, now.

They need to deal Dame because the team has a serious leadership problem, and it ain't coming from Giannis. Dame simply doesn't care about winning, never has.

All that said, don't overreact to the 4th game of a west coast trip. There's no 4 game west coast trips in the playoffs.

If you want to rebuild the best path there is to do Midds/Portis for Butler/Love after PatC/2031 2nd to Pistons then let Butler/Love/Brook walk in the offseason and trade Dame in the offseason. Giannis is the only long term commitment on the books after this offseason in that scenario. You could even get some assets by taking on Beal or Wiggins or whoever someone needs to move for cap space.

Gives one run with Dame/Jimmy/Giannis to see if you catch lightning in a bottle for a deep run and don’t completely punt a Giannis prime season. Then it’s a much easier tear down then sticking with the status quo and being a second apron team stuck paying PatC and Midds a combined $43.5M next season.

Can we overreact to the 3rd game then??

We need Bobby or a replacement. The rotation is in shambles without him.

Gotta kill the "player doesn't care about winning" take. Can not like the player but lets be more serious and honest.
