Agreed. Harris cops it constantly on here and he deserves some of it, but i think we're stretching now. A guy like Milshap is a good pick by the GM who got him moreso than a bad pick by the (many) who passed imo.

Of course. That doesn't change the fact Harris made a bad pick and Utah made a great one. When you're a small-market team in particular you have to find those diamonds in the rough in the draft. Harris has failed rather miserably to do that (excluding Sessions whose future remains uncertain). If the Millsap situation was an isolated case, the point would have no merit. But Harris' work with his second-round picks has been putrid with the exception of trading for Pachulia (which he then canceled out by letting him go) and maybe the Sessions pick.

A small-market team simply can't afford to draft as poorly as Harris has done when given an opportunity to find role players in the second round.

I don't think there is an owner in professional sports who wouldn't want to have the final approval on any trades. After all, it is their money. Do you really think Jerry Jones, Dr. Buss or Mark Cuban aren't involved in deals made or not made?

That does not mean that Herb does not listen to his coaches and GM's. I know that he was not a big fan of resigning Michael Redd the year he was a restricted free agent and we had to match the offer by Dallas. Thank God he listened. I also know that he was not a big fan of signing Anthony Mason, but George Karl talked him into it. I guess he should have stuck to his guns on that one. Oh yeah, let's not forget about Ray Allen! Herb absolutely did not want to make that deal and we all know how that turned out.

I think this year we have a little different situation too. Obviously Harris is a lame duck guy and I am quite sure that Herb will not allow him to make a deal just to save his job. I would imagine that most of us would agree that this would be a good thing? I also believe that if we can improve our team by trading CV, Herb will agree too it. I think he is more about winning than some of you think.

You know I often wonder why a guy not even 5 feet tall would go out and buy a basketball team. And to me it seems like he was probably picked on his whole young life and been insecure about it his whole adult life so what does he do, go and buy a team with tall guys on it to feel like he is the boss of a bunch of tall people. I think thats part of why he mettles too much. He just wants to subconsciously have that control over a bunch of taller people.

When I was a young kid growing up in Milwaukee, I used to go to Kohls on Oakland to buy food with my mother almost every other day. Even then, Herb was amazingly wealthy, and what was he doing? Stocking shelves and overseeing the store. Working hard. Then he went on with the family to make gobs more money, buy a basketball team, and the serve the people.

He was in a fraternity in Madison with relatives of mine, and they said he was a great guy to be around and totally fun.

I think that a better theory is that he is a hard working guy, who made a lot of money and good investments, and unfortunately has been micromanaging too much in this business and not letting the people who know how to run the show do their jobs. That is bad business, and by the decrease in fan support, he is paying for it.

But please, if you have ever lived in the world or been outside of your bubble, leave the prejudice somewhere else.

How does he decide whose opinions win out though, or why? I believe he's about winning, but in 20 years he hasn't been too good at it with whatever kind of program he's using. Maybe he's tried a few different philosophies during that time, I don't really know.

Its funny that someone actually took offense to your post. People act like the Kohl is gay rumor is something new. Even if he isn't gay, my mother pointed out something to me isn't it a little odd that a politician has no wife or any kids and has never been married. In politics that is not the norm. I don't know he has vetoed any trades....I am just repeating what Woefel said......and that is the Senator is fighting tooth and nail not to trade CV because he is one of his favorites....if that alone does not tell you the state of this franchise nothing does......a smart businessman would keep all his options open, maybe this just is a toy that Herbie likes to play with and winning isn't that important.
