Maybe he meant defensively?

Gave up 10 more points than PSU’s average, at home, with an extended 3pt line.

Wojo has to recruit some guys that can actually defend.

Only 3200 people showed up to MU’s last NIT game. No reason to use the BC.

It's really a "who cares" situation. All the teams in the NIT couldn't make a field of 64 or 68. It's not like the old days where conference champs like in the ACC could get aced out of the NCAA tourney if they lost their conf. tournament and then the NIT was the only option. Some of the teams that got beat in the ACC tourneys from the early seventies could have given UCLA a good battle.
Many other excellent NCAA-worthy teams in major conferences who didn't finish as conference champs got screwed while weaker conf. champs from the mid and lower majors got in. Plus, all the games were in Madison Square Garden, and many teams and great players were seen nationally for the first time.
Things are different now. It's basically a loser's tournament.

I'm with you. I'm an alum and could not get into these games at all. I know some people on radio, think that Bryan Dee, was pumping how the atmosphere was great, etc so maybe if I was down there it would've been different; but it's still a b-league tourney. I'm glad the team got a few more games but otherwise yaaaaaaawn.

Next year is going to be a big one for everyone.
