2022 NBA Draft - Prospects Discussion

I reaaaaally like Dalen. Kriisa was out for the PAC12 championship game against UCLA and he ran the team perfectly. He's got PG brain and vision with PF length. A lot of the best PGs in college this season spent a ton of time off ball seemingly just because they were taller than the other guard. If he fills out, he's going to be an awesome 2 way player, even if he never gets rid of that crazy elbow movement.

Yeah, I’m just starting to look at guys for the draft, and he’s my favorite right now. He has those glue guy traits where I’m convinced he could help us next year, and, like you said, if he fills out his body long term and develops his swing skills, you can squint and see some all-star impact.

High floor, high ceiling.

Dalen has flown up my rankings and he may be my favorite option for us. He views his game as Mikal Bridges/Penny Hardaway/Shaun Livingston. Sees the floor incredibly well and LOVES playing defense, prides himself on doing the little things, wreaks havoc in transition, can guard at least 1-3. Agreed, high floor, high ceiling, Giannis will love him. I'm willing to bet on the shot becoming reliable. Love his combine interview.

I watched that video thinking why are these guys pumped up about Corey Brewer II, then I got to the passing highlights.

I agree with all of you, he's super interesting. Terry's floor is a taller Delon Wright, and ceiling is fringe All Star. Perfect long term Tatum defender.

That means we will never see them. So many prospects I liked and they turned out very usable but we passed on them.

I’m at the point where if Ivey is available at 4, I’d move midds for him.

I don’t know if it was this thread or the trade thread where someone mentioned a midds for 4, Barnes, Holmes trade. I may add 24 if needed, but would rather hold onto it and would be fine subtracting out Holmes if there was still a way to get salaries to match.

I have ivey at either 1 or 2, right there with Chet, then jabari, and Banchero at 4.

Ivey’s athleticism looks a lot like ja’s which has been stated. I think he may have a little less vertical pop, but ivey’s speed and quickness is right there. Ja clearly has elite vision and passing that Ivey doesn’t have, but the thing I like more about Ivey is his size and frame. He looks pretty big to me, like a legit 6’4” with long arms. I’ve seen either 6’9 or 6’10 wingspan which wouldnt surprise me. Beyond that, I think his frame can pretty easily put on weight. I’m starting to buy into the idea that if you got him into this org alongside Giannis, that he could become a defensive asset, and if he fills out his frame, he would be able to switch both guard spots and maybe small threes.

He’s been compared to Donovan Mitchell a decent amount, and I can see that, but once again with better size and better athleticism. A slightly bigger, more athletic version, where you actually get him to buy-in defensively. I think that’s solidly a top 15-20 player, and it would be electric next to Giannis.

I also think I buy into the idea that he could be a lead guard or still be super effective off ball.

Develop his off hand, continue improving his shot, and get him in the weight room. I’m just liking him more and more.

Random aside, I'm currently in a sim league and I'm in the second year of the rebuild with Darius Garland and Scottie Barnes as my main building blocks. I currently hold the #2 pick and was curious who you guys think would fit well next to Garland and Barnes? Would Banchero or Jabari Smith fit next to a Barnes or should I maybe go Ivey or Chet?

The Kings were thrilled to move up three spots in the draft lottery, but now have a difficult decision in front of them. Opinions are split greatly among NBA executives at this point regarding who the best prospect is at this spot in the draft, and there's no clear home run candidate for what makes sense with Sacramento's existing players. On top of that, the Kings may not be viewed by agents as the most attractive situation for their clients either, which could prevent them from getting a full view of their options in terms of private workouts and medicals. That's one of the reasons some teams feel this pick is attainable in a trade if an established veteran who could help the Kings make a playoff push is available.

Far more likely he goes 8th than 18th, I think. Here's to hoping Givony has a good read on things, because I AGREE.
