Bud makes a ton of sense for Dallas. They are all offense, no defense, so the Mavs probably hire Bud with the same thought process that got Doc hired.

However..

1. Dallas is even worse defensively than Milwaukee ever was this season

2. Their best player and second best players are not good defenders.

Dallas is a different construction altogether when you consider his Bucks and Hawks runs, but his 5-out scheme seems like a good fit for players like Luka and Kyrie who can create offense without running set plays.

It probably boils down to Bud being the biggest fish out there. Maybe Dallas gets a jump start and scoops him up before anyone else gets a chance, but i doubt they make a move this late in the season. I really want to see him back on his feet, wherever it is.

I guess no game with the cavs is done if they are going to have random white guys get super hot from 3. I can forgive some their defense on Wade when they were up big that eventually got him hot, but they were letting him walk into open 3's even when the game was close. At least Strus was hitting some crazy shots when he got hot and they won that one.

I just don't see it from Buds side. Expectations are high because you have Luka, you can't trade Ky because he's Ky and owed $85m, i think they only have 2 of their next 5 firsts.

IDK I take it if its the only job available, but I would take others before that. Hell I would probably take an Associate Head Coaching job with the Spurs and wait my time. Pop is already the oldest NBA coach in history by 4+ years. A lot can happen health wise in the next six months and next season probably has to be his last season.

They’re not just 3Pt merchants though. They can get to the paint and they can hurt you in the midrange too. Plus they’re 2nd in defensive rating, so they can guard, and they can do it playing both big and small.

They have a lot of ways to win. You can’t have an 11+ net rating and be one dimensional

Didn't say they were one-dimensional. Neither were we when we had the whole "historic net-rating" thing going on from 2018-2020 though, and look what happened when things ramped up in the playoffs. Of all the main 4-5 contenders, they're still by far the most reliant on the 3-ball, and until Tatum proves he's not gonna pull a disappearing act in the biggest games and possessions, winning four straight 7-game series with a "live by the sword, die by the sword" offensive scheme is an awful tough thing to pull off.

Bud coaching Wemby after shepherding Giannis to superstardom seems like the best poetic justice he could hope for.

But replacing Kidd again would be the most fitting thing that could happen to that dude too.

Scrolling The Ringer and cackling at the "It's Getting Harder and Harder to Deny the Celtics" article from way back on Monday.

My dudes, this is not the 73-9 Warriors, who were, as I recalled, denied.

He's such an awesome player, but man, am I glad I get to root for a guy like Giannis instead of mopey-ass Luka as my franchise superstar. He's solidified himself as a Mt. Rushmore "garbage body language" dude. He truly is Harden 2.0 (albeit better in the playoffs).

His effort sucks. He's right there with him on the spin recovery but says to himself he's covered in the paint & quits. Go block that sh--.

I'm at the point of rooting for 76ers wins. Would not like them falling to the 7th seed. They seem optimistic on Embiid coming back based on their trade deadline activity and recent reports. Would be funny though if they were the 8th seed. lol

Not worried about Philly one bit honestly. Even with a healthy Embiid we match up incredibly well against them, and he won't be close to 100% anyways. They're the first round matchup that the Knicks or Heat want to avoid, not us.

They have a lot of good shooters so they'd be foolish *not* to take a lot of 3's. Maybe you're right about variance catching up with them, but it also makes them very scary to play against because they can bury you in an avalanche of 3's at any time (as we saw in game 6 and 7 in 2022).

Still a long way to go but they are strong favorites at this point imo.

Bud is Dallas would be something. Funneling everything to Lively in the paint would help their defense.imo

I'd love a Philly series so people can finally stop putting Embiid above Giannis on lists.

In what I consider unbelievable, the short red haired guy who was the defensive coach for the Bucks under KIdd, is still in charge of the defense in Dallas. It's not as bad as putting Griffin in charge of an entire team, but it's in the vicinity.

Sean Sweeney.

What's more important, a doctorate in leadership or writing a book on defense?
