For sure, but at the same time we didn't lose because we had Dame, we lost because we didn't have Giannis (Again).

I didn't watch these two games to know exactly what situations he's been handling in, but last year vs MIA he couldn't dribble the ball up the court against basic ball pressure without turning it over.

We all knew when we saw the trade that it was a great fit for Jrue. So far its held true. But he showed with us he couldn't be the lead handler type guy on a title level team. Kudos for Bos for being able to afford like 5 near max contracts so he's only the 4-5th option on O. Good for Jrue if he gets another title and then gets paid that contract until he's 38/39.

And you're right. Being able to trade the perpetually broken Robert Williams and Malcolm Brogdon for Ironman Jrue is insane.

While 100% accurate that Jrue's role with Boston is different. There are two other factors that are part of the discussion of whether the trade the Bucks made was good/neutral/bad.

First, it wasn't just "Jrue for Dame" even up. We gave up a hell of a lot more in assets. Saying we still won the deal because "Dame is better than Jrue" isn't an accurate analysis.

Second, have been on this board many years as we've learned to debate "PPGZ" guys versus two-way guys who help you win. There are elements of a 2006 Michael Redd versus prime Iggy debate here.

(And yes, I understand Giannis needed the Dame trade to sign his extension. But that means Giannis needs to take some heat here on this stuff)

I don't even know what most of this means in the context of what we're talking about. "Let me set aside the most important point for some side anecdotes that might sort of apply if I squint hard." You're stretching to find some kind of narrative here that doesn't really exist.

Sometimes you can make the correct decision and you don't get the results you were hoping for. That doesn't mean the decision itself was incorrect.

Brad Stevens did a great job getting both Porzingis and Jrue. But Ainge had collected first rounders over many years leading to some of the other young stars of the Celtics.

Our time of success will come again. I hope it would be this coming season. I think getting a good player in the first round of the draft is unusually more important this year for the Bucks.

Note we didn’t take Klay and Sabonis in the draft. I feel we should have taken Jovic who Miami took after us; he has not done much yet but I have a feeling he will.

This is it. Imagine the alternate universe where Dame makes it known he's keen to come to the Bucks and we say "Nah, we're good with Jrue" coming off the debacle of the 2023 Playoffs loss to Miami. This would've been a lot worse than what's happening now.

Like someone said previously, you can make the right decision and not get the desired results.
