Gonna be a rough day for Horst if Jrue wins Finals MVP.
For sure, but at the same time we didn't lose because we had Dame, we lost because we didn't have Giannis (Again).

Those stats are reaching too. Great games but... let's see an adjusted Dame, with a healthy team & stable coaching staff before reaching conclusions.

*Checked the game logs: Jordan put up 70. 33+37. Quite the reach.

I didn't watch these two games to know exactly what situations he's been handling in, but last year vs MIA he couldn't dribble the ball up the court against basic ball pressure without turning it over.

We all knew when we saw the trade that it was a great fit for Jrue. So far its held true. But he showed with us he couldn't be the lead handler type guy on a title level team. Kudos for Bos for being able to afford like 5 near max contracts so he's only the 4-5th option on O. Good for Jrue if he gets another title and then gets paid that contract until he's 38/39.

This is really the beginning and end of the discussion right here.

Then we need to cue up a new discussion. Who is the GM here? And who will be making decisions going forward.

paulpressey25 wrote:While 100% accurate that Jrue's role with Boston is different. There are two other factors that are part of the discussion of whether the trade the Bucks made was good/neutral/bad.

First, it wasn't just "Jrue for Dame" even up. We gave up a hell of a lot more in assets. Saying we still won the deal because "Dame is better than Jrue" isn't an accurate analysis.

Second, have been on this board many years as we've learned to debate "PPGZ" guys versus two-way guys who help you win. There are elements of a 2006 Michael Redd versus prime Iggy debate here.

(And yes, I understand Giannis needed the Dame trade to sign his extension. But that means Giannis needs to take some heat here on this stuff)

I don't even know what most of this means in the context of what we're talking about. "Let me set aside the most important point for some side anecdotes that might sort of apply if I squint hard." You're stretching to find some kind of narrative here that doesn't really exist.

Sometimes you can make the correct decision and you don't get the results you were hoping for. That doesn't mean the decision itself was incorrect.

Ok, let's play the "we didn't make the Dame trade and kept Jrue" game.

1) Where are we now?
2) Where is Boston now?

Oh, we're still sitting at home after an early playoff exit cuz Giannis got hurt anyways? Oh, Boston is still in the Finals because they still would've been the 1-seed and their path to a championship was equal parts luck/circumstance? Cool story, guys. But hey, at least we'd have Grayson and that 2030 pick swap to dream about dealing for Collin Sexton.

I assumed that he wasn't going to take the job and was just angling for a big extension from UConn.

The Lakers job was bad when Darvin took it two years ago, and is worse now. Only way I could have seen him take it is if LA money whipped him, and 6/$70 isn't it.

Honestly the Laker job is just tainted. Even if you do decent you’re the first to go. Always under scrutiny, always blamed.

What’s hilarious is when they signed Vincent and the others everyone was like “omg they are the deepest team ever!” And then they were average at best.

I just think this was a set up to show fans that they exhausted all options before going with J.J. I think he is there 1st choice and everything else is just to keep the media focused on them until they name Redick HC.

Smart move. 6/70 is honestly kind of a hilarious offer for who they were trying to pull. I know it feels like coaching contracts are getting out of hand (as are all contracts), but UConn can probably pay him that if they want to. The freaking Lakers certainly could have gone higher.

Depends on if hurley has a huge extension lined up with uconn or not. He could take that lakers deal, get fired after a couple of years and still get a blank check to any college he wants.

Hmmm, I was thinking they should build a statue for Pat Riley for not putting out and letting Boston get him for cheap.

Go for three straight national championships or become the new whipping boy in LA. Easy choice

Brad Stevens did a great job getting both Porzingis and Jrue. But Ainge had collected first rounders over many years leading to some of the other young stars of the Celtics.

Our time of success will come again. I hope it would be this coming season. I think getting a good player in the first round of the draft is unusually more important this year for the Bucks.

Note we didn’t take Klay and Sabonis in the draft. I feel we should have taken Jovic who Miami took after us; he has not done much yet but I have a feeling he will.

That's about double what he's getting at UConn and would have put him in the top tier of coaching salaries in the NBA, which is incredible for a dude with no NBA coaching experience.

I totally understand why he chose to stay at UConn, but that's a very reasonable offer for the Lakers.

Not if they want to pull the top coaching candidate in college basketball away from college basketball.

That's about double what he makes now - his contract last negotiated two years ago. It's not what he'll make next year. He turned down $11m/ from Kentucky. The Lakers needed to do better than matching it to get him to jump into their hellish situation.

UConn is just a better situation, wouldn’t last 6 seasons in LA. Can’t be offering less than Monty Williams contract.

This is it. Imagine the alternate universe where Dame makes it known he's keen to come to the Bucks and we say "Nah, we're good with Jrue" coming off the debacle of the 2023 Playoffs loss to Miami. This would've been a lot worse than what's happening now.

Like someone said previously, you can make the right decision and not get the desired results.

Looking up what Golden State owes in taxes and I just saw what Phoenix owes.

Damn! Who can we steal from them? Probably nobody because of Joe Horst.
