I only got about 50% through BOTW before being pulled away by other games. It's definitely on my list of games to go back to and finish in 2019. But I'm wondering whether I should start all over again when I do so.

This may be common knowledge, but I just learned this week (and may be relevant to this thread given the recent discussion of money spent on games in 2018)...did you guys know that you can rent games - ps4, switch, xbone, whatever, from the library?!

I honestly had no idea. Definitely going to give this a try in the future, especially as someone who usually waits for games to go on sale anyway. I'm sure it's difficult to get AAA games right away if you're the type who needs to play ASAP.

Damn, I did not know that. Thanks for sharing.

I just did some searches on my local library site and it looks like most of the AAA games have really long holds on them. RDR2 has 38 holds, lol. God of War has 41 holds.

So, yeah, if you want a AAA game, you might have to wait a loooong while.

I mean, no one is requiring either one of you to love any game. It may be overrated in your personal eyes, and that's fine.

But the general consensus on TLOU was extremely positive; overwhelmingly so. 95% Metacritic score. Perfect scores from a variety of sources. And with good reason, in my opinion. It was excellent.

Hey man, just sharing opinions. Obviously people love the game otherwise it wouldn't be remarkable to not enjoy it.

You're just sharing an opinion? I wasn't aware of that.

I was just sharing how remarkable that opinion is.

I finished it, but I wonder if it was just all the hype around it by the time I played it. Just underwhelmed.

That was my experience as well regarding AAA and newer games. I expanded the search to games I wanted to play from earlier in the year though and many were available. Also looked at games a little less popular (e.g., Spyro Reignited Trilogy is available through my library system - new game actually, just maybe not as popular as RDR2 for example).

I debated this because I hadn't played it in so long. My thought process was this: It would be really hard to toss 110 hours of progress to start over and I'd likely just bail halfway through again for greener pastures. My suggestion? Finish your file, take a little break, then come back to play the DLC Master Mode with the whole game remixed with an increased difficulty to experience it all over again.

I've only played Zelda in hand-held mode with the rare instance of throwing it on a friends TV. I haven't really played it in 4 months and I'm moving into a new apartment (and buying my first TV in 6 years).

I think I'm going to be starting over :)

Oddly enough, I ONLY play my Switch in handheld mode. I haven't played BoTW's DLC but I really want to, thinking I might start over on a higher difficulty as that way I won't get my ass handed to me right off the bat.

I unfortunately (or fortunately) got sucked back into Skyrim on the Switch. There's nothing better than one of my favorite games all time on the go.

Caveat....I’m not much of a gamer and haven’t played a ton outside of sports games. Will be trying Last Of Us next and then God of War as I recently got a PS4.

My experience of non sports games has basically been COD, Halo, GTA, and games that are 20 years old.

I’m a sucker for great story lines much more than actual gameplay mechanics. RDR2 was basically a great TV series. I love that.

I am in the middle of RDR2. Outstanding.

The Last of Us is my favorite game ever. You get so emotionally invested in it through its incredible character development and detailed world. Not ashamed to say had tears in my eyes at the end.

I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to finish TLOU. Uncharted is probably my favorite game series ever so I expected to love TLOU and I consider myself to be very good at video games in general but I got stuck early on in TLOU and I simply could not progress for the life of me. I'm also not sure it's really my genre; I'm not really a fan of the whole zombie thing, but maybe I'll return to it again someday. TLOU2 looks great.

I whole heartedly recommend playing a new game on Master. Not only is the difficulty really really fun to deal with, but a lot of the other DLC stuff is excellent. The new quests are pretty fun (and the new EX armor pieces themselves are really useful). Ive also been playing no HUD as well. Can't recommend it enough. After playing RDR2 and all of its scripted nonsense, it was refreshing to play a real open world game that also included actual challenges.

It's time to buy a new TV. Holy heckin cripes is there an overload of information. Is tomsguide still good for "How to" advice?

There's a simple reason that smart TV prices are so low: some TV makers collect user data and sell it to third-parties, which can offset the cost.

Glad you guys mentioned this. I'm about 1.5 years too late, but just turned mine off.

I played through Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright and some of Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest back when they both came out, but now I'm finally playing through Revelation, and it's 100% what I needed to pick me up out of a gaming funk. I love it.

I saw on Twitter I think someone named their character "my dude" so I did that for my new FE main and it's absolutely delightful. Like on my screen now, Elise, "And why are you saying that my dude is going to be crushed? If my dude is in danger I need to help!"
