Re: 2024 NBA Draft Thread
Kelly O is a pretty solid comp for Filipowski.
I’m starting to warm up on DaRon Holmes, I think he’d be perfect to add to our big man rotation. There’s some Bam vibes there if he hits.

I remenber Kelly Olynyk draft combine games... wearing #41 and going full Dirk Nowitski mode. Throwing 30 bombs and doing it all. I think Filipowski doesn't have that gear

Re: 2024 NBA Draft Thread
If we did trade up into the mid/late lottery, I’d be really into Ron holland.
Putting that burst and defensive ability on the perimeter could really be a boost for us. His shot is his swing skill, but man does he pop on screen in a number of other areas: quickness, jumping ability, quick decision making, defensive motor and activity.
If he’s willing to be a role player and find ways to contribute, he could be massive for us.

Re: 2024 NBA Draft Thread
In the Draft Combine Games there was a kid small ball 5 who Nets Only 2 FTs and in the next possession nets a 3. He was the best player in the game, his name is Coleman Hawkings. He is a really good shooterz pick n pop threat but needs to get stronger. His motor is really good though.
Edit: He is 6'8.25 212lbs 7'0 wingspan 8'11 standing reach, 24 vertical, 29.5 max vertical.
This slots him ONLY at the 3-4 position ... some intriguing lineups with Giannis at the 5. His shooting is wet though. I would slot him as a backup 3 to rest Khris but keep enough shooting on court

Tantalizing altheticism and a really calculated defender. You hope the shot comes, but that dude is a stopper/transition starter.

He's a unique player and made a massive leap in shooting his senior season. I'd consider him in the 2nd round but probably only in a trade down.

I was watching Edey today.
I was completely against drafting a dinosaur. But he said he didn't shoot 3s and played like a playmaker from the post cause that was the only way for his team to win more games. Then I saw a recent workout video where he makes 3s on a nice form and accuracy. If Brook is gone in a trade he could be a cheap replacement of Brook's rim protection on rookie controlled contract. He is massive and he was faster than Clingan ( the other dinosaur) on the 3/4 sprint. I think he could be usefull as a backup Center, for post ups, at the dunker spot, try him on some pick n roll movement ... although he at the post looks unstoppable, he has a good touch kinda how Sabonis throw the ball and it went in. He is used to get fouled and plays through contact. He averaged 11 FTs per game and he shot 71.1%
Can he play the Steven Adams role for us ?
Can he grab all the boards so Giannis has less workload and maybe give the 1st pass to Giannis for more transition baskets ?
So I am intrigued with all our options :
Edey, Bona, Oso Ighodaro (PF/C)
Da Silva, Djurisic, Coleman Hawkins, Flurphy (F)
Cam Christie, Pelle Larsson (G)

If we keep both picks and draft two non-playoff rotation dudes then Horst has absolutely failed the offseason before it's even begun.

I don't trust Hawkins at all. I'd draft him in the 50s and hope, but not before then.

If you draft Edy you have to use him down low to be effective. I just don't know if the Bucks would do that.Fotis St wrote:giannis and 1 wrote:If we draft Edey and Bronny, I will be a very happy man.

Can we somehow draft these 3, Bona, Ighodaro and Cam Mitchell ? I think all 3 of them have potential ... especially when I see Bona, who is a 6'9 Thanasis ... I think Indiana will draft him and Portis + Giannis will have another body to face against.
I already see Bona messing up with Portis head and get him ejected.

Re: 2024 NBA Draft Thread
Yes, using Edey at the post is the play.
I think it will work. We have a massive flaw not filling the dunker spot with an actual dunker who has above the rim game. Brook is too cooked to run to the dunker spot. He just jogs from home paint to the long 3 area, the dude is too old to run, which limits alot of our offensive variety.

I'm the opposite. Draft the best long term potential. Banking on rookies to contribute to a deep postseason run is risky. My hope is they lean more on Ajax and Dairy next year. Hopefully Horst Billy Beane's Rivers and forces him to play them. Mind boggling they didn't get a shot even when nothing was working.
Do it for Chuck

He was a dreadful 3 point shooter until last year (and he wasn't great last year either).
If he can't shoot the 3 I think he's fairly useless.

37% is pretty great and he also increased his FT% to 80% the same season, both on higher volume. It's possible it's a fluky season and he just happened to shoot better from three and the line while taking way more of both (he took 210 3s his first three seasons combined and 160 last season) but it seems more likely to me he just made a jump. As far as I know usually an increase in volume means a decrease in efficiency.

They have to be playoff rotation dudes as NBA rookies or do you mean eventually?

Is a 6'9" Thanasis a good thing? I don't think height is keeping Thanasis off the court.
