Honestly, a pretty reasonable and relatable argument.

My last build lasted me 5 years and could've easily lasted me longer but I wanted to do something during COVID. Currently on year 3 of this one and I doubt I'd need to upgrade for another 3 years.

Especially with prebuilts and laptops out there, people can get into PC gaming way easier. However, I do think if Microsoft had Windows 11 launch in either PC mode or game mode and it had a dedicated OS for gaming that would be sweet.

When you guys upgrade your gaming PCs, what do you do with your old GPU, CPU, motherboard, etc.? Do you sell them? If so, where?

I don't need to worry about whether my console will be obsolete in two years and require upgrades - read: money - to keep up. I don't need to worry about how to play it on my big ass TV. It's easy. Straightforward. Dependable.

I will not deny that PC's are more versatile, have huge libraries, and offer superior graphics. I've long wanted to invest in a really good PC (and probably will at some point) because I work from home so often anyway and my 8 year old laptop is starting to show its age. But the idea of having to spec out a PC, find the components I need, spend a couple grand, etc, just comes off as overwhelming by comparison to just firing up the PS5.

I get it that most people love how casual and easy a console is, but $1300 (not talking peripherals) and you'll be able to run any game beautifully for the next 5 years if you take care of your PC. I don't really understand the two years and obsolete thing, maybe you will want to upgrade a part 3-5 years later or something. I've had more issues with consoles than my PC's, so PC's are more dependable in my experience. As they should be as the hardware is superior and better optimized, not so cramped in a tiny box with bad airflow. Putting together an affordable PC is super easy with all the help online.

Not trying to sway you but these issues aren't as overwhelming as you may think, but I work in IT and have been PC gaming for 15~ years now so def a little biased. I just think you would be happy you made the investment eventually

I won't fight you on what you're saying. But I will note that the average console has about a decade shelf life and costs about a third of what I'd spend on a quality gaming PC, without factoring in peripherals or any upgrades five years in. It's not apples-to-apples, obviously. But the cost of entry and its longevity are factors to consider.

I will note that if consoles start having shorter and shorter life cycles - if we're talking about needing to get the latest console (the PS6, not the "PS5 pro" version, which provides better graphics but still doesn't materially impact the life cycle of the PS5) every five years or so - then I think the debate becomes much closer.

FB Marketplace usually. Half the time I’ll list it at a great price just to move it. Or a friend who has a very old build and doesn’t want to spend much haha. I think I’ve sold half my old components, monitors and peripheral to my same friend.

God bless FB marketplace. I don't think I've ever actually sold anything on there but I've used it often to get rid of heavy stuff I just don't want anymore.

Just sitting here waiting to see if they fix the dualsense controllers. I legit don't care about haptic feedback and all other bells and whistles if it means they **** break every year or two.

But why fix them when you can just quietly raise the prices instead? lol

Total pieces of ****. I own two and they were both f*cking up while having battery issues inside a year. I couldn't believe it today when I saw they raised the prices.

The Castlevania Dominus collection is so freaking good. I'm regretting not buying it on the Switch, though. This would have been a good one to play on the deck.

I was willing to pay a couple hundred to trade in my launch ps5 for the pro but having to buy the separate disc drive on top of that is lame. I'm not even mad at the price as I understand the reality of what hardware costs these days but the whole thing together is annoying to me.

With college football on the big screen today I gave Xbox Cloud Gaming a shot. Not gonna lie, extremely impressed. I'm using a wired connection to a Mac Mini in my living room, wireless Xbox controller, about 375 mb download. I've been playing Wo Long this afternoon, a game that requires very precise timing, and I've had zero issues.

There might be something here.

UFO 50 looks incredible. It only being on PC is such a damn bummer.

I didn't know this existed until yesterday. 25 dollars is a crazy price.

I think it just clicked with me why I'm loving Satisfactory so much - Legos. I'm playing video game legos, with problems to solve.

Looked up my new address to see internet options, I'm seeing Charter Spectrum or AT&T Fiber.

Currently I have TDS and it's awesome. A while back though, I changed back to Spectrum to save some money and Charter was just awful. Is AT&T Fiber in the Sussex/Pewaukee area good? Or am I going to have to stick with Charter?

I'm not in Sussex (MKE here) but AT&T fiber has been flawless for me.

There are so many bull reasons/excuses why. The only wired options I have at my address are Spectrum cable or AT&T DSL. I had Spectrum for years and it got to the point where the service would drop daily.
