Digging most of the list, RS. Based on that list and some of your previous music posts, you might get some mileage out of:

The Japanese House

Fickle Friends

Dance Gavin Dance (this one is a bit more out there, but I'm calibrating)

the wife and I caught the Trans-Siberian Orchestra Friday night at the Bradley Center.

WHAT. A. SHOW.

I can't recommend seeing this show enough. plus they give a dollar for each ticket sold to a local charity. they raised $22,000 for the Hunger Task Force in Milwaukee.

Tickets are always so expensive but its definitely a show worth going to at least once.

Here's my top 50 for the year (and some of the end of 2016), of whatever I wanted to rank, but mostly Alt/Indie/Folk. As always, it's a rough list because it's hard to actually order things, but the top 10-15 stand out. I think it was a great year for music I like compared to 2016.

  9. Sam Smith - Palace
  10. Beck - Up All Night
  11. The National - Day I Die
  12. Ryan Adams - Do You Still Love Me?
  13. Wild Cub - Speak
  14. Van Williams & First Aid Kit - Revolution
  15. The National - Dark Side of the Gym
  16. Middle Kids - Edge of Town
  17. St. Vincent - Los Ageless
  18. Cold War Kids - Love is Mystical
  19. Frightened Rabbit - How It Gets In

Does anyone here buy vinyl? Any favorite spots around Milwaukee?

I've had pretty good luck at Antiques on Pierce and various Goodwills, but the dedicated "record shops" all seem to be a complete ripoff. Maybe I just don't know the market very well.

Discogs is a pretty sweet website if you haven't checked it out.

I don't buy vinyl but The Exclusive Company and Half Price Books seem to have a decent selection.

Love the sound of those, not at all what you'd expect from a tele.

I buy some vinyl - not often, but I have a handful of records. I have to be honest...most have come from Amazon because I'm a terrible person. I know, it's the complete antithesis of the concept of modern vinyl.

To me, this is like the 2010 decade version of 'Regulators'...

Rip Dolores. Man I rocked out to her a lot back in the day, also really got into her soft and emotional stuff. Saw her live in Milwaukee in the early 90s. Saw her in that old theater (was some ampatheater where all the alternative acts played in) I can't remember the name **** I'm getting old.

What a different time I was in university. RIP. :(
