The main selling point of the Pro is that it can output games in 4k, and the increased power can make load times shorter and frame rates more consistent. I've owned both and, while I prefer the Pro, it's not a profound difference. If you just plan on using it occasionally for a couple of games you probably will be happy with the Slim.

My regular PS4's fan was trash and eventually gave out. I got a Pro and while occasionally it sounds like a jet engine it's not nearly as bad.

I still have my launch PS4 and I've even dropped it and cracked the body. Thing sounds like it's about to take off to Mars at any minute. Sometimes even hear it over my headphones. Too cheap to buy another with the 5 coming soon, as much as I'd love a Pro.

Think I'm slowly convincing myself that the $250 investment is worth it even with the new consoles coming out soon. Also should be a big back log of games that I'm excited for but never really got to invest time into (Last of Us, God of War, etc.).

Yeah, in the same boat. Mine has served me well over the last 5 years, though Control was the first game to really kick the crap out of it. The frame-rate fell apart in a couple of the bigger fights.

I have my launch PS4 and, while it gets loud at times, it's not too bad. I guess I sit a ways away from it, and have some furniture in the way, so maybe that's why.

Sounds like availability at launch might be limited by design by Sony, so this might not be a bad plan.

Finished Divinity: Original Sin 2 earlier in the week. My one play through took 136 hours; it was great, but boy I was really ready for that thing to wrap up once the third act finished and they were like "but wait, we have a fourth act here for you to play!" The momentum kind of died. Still the best CRPG I've ever played, but man I'm getting old or 100+ hour commitments to a game is just too much.

I'm thinking I should go wrap up Breath of the Wild or the Blood and Wine DLC I never finished for The Witcher 3. I also have a few games in my backlog pile I could probably hit (Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, Pillars of Eternity, all the Dark Souls games).

Anybody had a chance to play Valorant? I don't have a key but game looks pretty fun.

Same here though the jet engine is more sporadic than yours apparently. Definitely has it's moments. It's not so bad for me though because the way I have it set up, the PS4 is in one room and I generally play in another. It's my girlfriend that has to deal with the noise haha.

It's interesting. Counterstrike with Overwatch type abilities. I like it, but it's pretty much random groupings when you play so you get some insane FPS players with people who were lucky to figure out how to install it on the same team (you can guess who I usually wind up with as teammates).

I have access to Valorant but I haven't tried it yet. Not too interested in competitive type shooters because my aim is mediocre at best.

Just got my Valorant key today, installing now. I've played about 5 mins of Counterstrike in my life and haven't played an FPS with mouse + keyboard in a few months. This should be interesting.

Would one of you ACNH folks be willing to explain the whole tulips game to me? I thought someone would come around selling tulips for some reason, but I haven't seen anyone in my town yet. Are you growing them on your own? How do you play that game? I need some bells.

So, turnips, not tulips :D

Turnip lady will come to your island every Sunday morning (9a-Noon, I believe). You can buy as many as you want for ~80-100 bells or so, and beginning on Monday, you can sell them back to Timmy/Tommy for somewhere ranging from, apparently, ~40-600 bells. The prices are all over the place, and you have 12 chances - morning and afternoon/evening (all non-morning) from Mon-Sat. Come the following Sunday morning, they rot and are worthless.

Tulips you can buy from Timmy/Tommy and plant/breed with minimal financial gain :P

Ha! I literally was so confused because I kept googling "tulips ACNH" and nothing helpful was coming up. Thank you!

I'll have to look for her next Sunday. I'm rarely gaming that early in the day.

I'll definitely end up trying Valorant but I'm disappointed that it appears to be 95% Counter-Strike.

You can tell their aim is for it to turn into an esport game.Probably in a year or two.

Valorant looks like a game where you need to be hopped up on Adderall to even stand a chance. Looks really cool but I'm both amazed/terrified of how good kids are with these twitch shooters nowadays. I just don't have those kind of reflexes anymore.
