As for Bud's rotations, you do have a point. But..

DDV
Forbes

That's not that bad. I think DDV would be in a position to succeed in this type of group where he is surrounded by shooters.

I guess i'm not as high on DDV as some, but he was significantly worse as a distributor than both Hill and Bledsoe from what I remember.

I don't think he was encouraged to do so.

Very possible.

Maybe if his name was Denise instead of Dennis.

He's a better fit here than Donte. I'd definitely do it. I wanted Trent at 17 that year we picked Donte.

I don't understand the love affair for anyone who can shoot, but doesn't play D. Of course, our front office is doing some of it, but I don't think we should do more.

So...keepp someone who can't shoot and can sometimes play D? Trent is also a better defender then you think if you watch him play.

If we win it all with DJ, we've got to get TJ a ring through the transitive property of TPGFT (Tiny Point Guards from Texas).

I don't know where you get that Donte can *sometimes* play D, but I agree that Trent is a pretty good defender.

Trent usually gets put on the other teams best G and tries his best. I don't know if someone is basing things off some advanced things for his D but he's perfectly fine at individually. The other two Gs he's out there with are really bad individually so their team is going to be struggle at D. Put Trent on a good team D and he'd be perfectly fine if not good. I'd still think DDV is better at D due to just having that knack for steals and seeing a step ahead but Trent does not suck at D.

Where are people getting the idea that Trent is a bad defender? I would trade DDV for him in a heartbeat.

People saying they rather have DDV than Trent are nuts. The gap is bigger than you think. If you offer DDV for Trent it's possible it gets done too. POR will most likely have to extend Nurk after this year. Between Nurk, CJ, Dame that's going to be almost 90-100M of their cap. Trent probably will be commanding anywhere from $13M-$18M. DDV would give POR a solid young defender and extra year of control. Trent gives us shooting and helps us make a run this year. POR can live without the shooting.

"Sometimes" is a bad take, I'll accept that. Would you rather have Trent or DDV this year?

Not to troll the Bogi folks, but Trent would be a much better get than Bogdanovic imo.

I mean, he's certainly a much better two-way player than Bogdan is, and is a better shooter. I think a lot of people were enamored by Bogdan because of his ability as a playmaker.

Trent has come so far in the past couple years, particularly in terms of his body and ball handling, I would not be at all surprised if he becomes a pretty good playmaker as he draws more attention from defenses.

Trent is a better fit for our startling lineup and is 21 years old, so if I was prepared to pay him at the end of the year, I'd take him for sure. For just next year I think it's close. Typically I'd break the tie with continuity but since DDV has already been named in a canceled trade I lean Trent due to his range. Trent is probably a better on ball defender, but Donte's rotations are uncanny and we'd miss that.

I think Trents offense trumps what Donte's defense at the end of the day. We don't lose that much on defense either. Playoff time I'm rolling with Trent.

Trent is more versatile on the defensive end than Donte, as well because he's a bit bigger.

Trent's a legit young 3&D guy, but yikes, lots of overreacting based on much less of a sample size than even Donte had last year. Not very much statistical evidence that he's anywhere close to Donte's level defensively. Even if I do think his shooting would fit really well in the starting lineup.

I mean defense is pretty subjective and hard to measure. Both sample sizes are pretty small. I'll say from the eye test DDV is probably the better off-ball defender, Trent is probably better on-ball defender. Trent is a much better shooter. At the end of the day good offense > good defense. Give me Trent.
