Business travel will be down permanently, companies are embracing Zoom and other methods in lieu of traveling. My company has offices in a few cities and people would go back and forth all the time. It's already been announced that meetings will continue to be virtual even when things are back to "normal". A lot of companies are going to dispense with travel as much as possible.
It is kind of a double whammy on business travel. Like you said, companies are embracing the cost savings and convenience of Zoom.......And who do you visit when you are on-site? I used to travel a ton but the question isn't even whether or not we can do our job remotely, it is whether or not we get ANY benefit being on-site if our main contacts typically work from home now.
It's crazy how much my energy bill went up with me having to take even just one WFH day a week, well besides the hybrid school thing.
