i thought he was cooked the first time we traded for him and that turned out wrong. he is what he is but i wont believe hes cooked until i see him cooked in the playoffs. if you let that dude get physical with who hes guarding and whistles are getting swallowed then he has a definite role and thats not to mention what effect he has on the guys around him

im curious that if we let him walk last time that maybe it was because bud didnt want him back all that much. with bud gone and us looking like softy pants every night id kind of be willing if he would be. completely dependent on what the clips sent back with him tho

He's probably cooked, but he would still be more useful than some of our players.

2020-21 - Key member of a championship run
2021-22 - Possibly the best season of his career
2022-23 - 75 game starter on a 54 win team
2023-24 - Completely unplayable, absolutely cooked, give him a clipboard

Tend to believe unless he's fully given up any want to play in the NBA, which by the reports certainly sounds like isn't the case, he probably has a role on the right team.

so for now, the only asset we have outside of players is that 24 Portland 2nd.

this offseason, we have 24 1st and 31 1st. Although i think there is some merit to saving the 2nd to see what we can do with those three picks combined, i assume that we are going to do everything we can to maximize this season.

my assumption is that we are not going to trade Bobby or Pat and that we will attempt to do something like what the Lakers did last season in acquiring Rui. basically combine a few small contracts and get a young, defensive minded, athletic player who was drafted high but hasn't panned out and also cross our fingers that another defensive minded player falls to the buyout market.

based on what? i just dont see any reason why LA would willingly eat a year of his salary (which becomes way more than it currently is on paper because of the luxury tax). would assume that he's kept or traded. i dont see us as great trade partners with LAC. certainly am not giving up Bobby for PJ just based on age alone, and LAC doesn't really need Bobby anyway so they are not going to give us draft capital that offsets the value lost for us.

if PJ isn't in their post season plans, then they got him for salary matching reasons only. they should then be open and willing to move him and get a potential distraction off the team. but then they have to spend a little for another team to take the contract.

idk, it seems like a tough match.

I knew it seemed like we've had an easy schedule so far but I didn't realize how easy until I looked it up, 26th in SOS. Another feather in Grief's cap.

based on what?

Based on the fact that they could buy him out, save a little money and not have to give up some of their only remaining assets to dump him to save a little money.

i want nothing to do with adding another vet who is going to yell at the coach and not back it up on the court. when PJ did that to Bud, it was needed. he was the only one who would do it. it's not needed right now. even Bobby, who has not played to his potential, is doing that. if anything, we need stabilizing forces, not more chaos.

i would rather we just focus on the x's and o's and find guys who can help on defense. we need a better starting/closing 2 so that Beas can come off the bench as a microwave scorer. that just absolutely has to happen.

Strongly disagree. I think more chaos is needed now.

Griffin, like many coaches, came to the team with his pre-conceived notion on what kind of defense he wanted to run and he wasn't going to let facts get in the way.

I'm not convinced that a couple of losses will move him to abandon his ideology. So if it's more losses (rather than squeaker wins) or more players speaking up, or Horst getting involved, I'm for all of that.

Now is the time to reevaluate. Not three months from now.

Are you suggesting that it’s not needed now? Because I couldn’t disagree more strongly.

The Bobby comparison doesn’t matter to me, Bobby’s an abominable defensive player who is lashing out because he’s playing bad basketball and is frustrated. Whereas PJ is an actually smart defensive player, widely known as one of the best defensive communicators among players, and him being vocal might actually spark real change in our defense.

i would rather we just focus on the x's and o's and find guys who can help on defense. we need a better starting/closing 2 so that Beas can come off the bench as a microwave scorer. that just absolutely has to happen.

That’s the whole point… PJ might actually have good ideas X’s and O’s wise to improve the defense and also has the voice to be heard. It happened in our title run and it could happen now.

We need better defensive personnel but having PJ as an end of bench player-coach and trying to add better defenders in the rotation aren’t mutually exclusive.

If you're at the point of needing a still active vet player to come in & turn around the coaching you got a big problem, elephant in the room needs to be dealt with before anything else.

Middleton for Smart and Clarke is absolutely putrid.

Good god.

We can’t aggregate contracts in trades after this year, so any move like that the Bucks want to make has to be this season.

I don't think anyone is expecting PJ to fix the problem, but many of us would like him around anyway.

PJ is still due about 8M for this season and around 11M for next season. That's 19M total. How much of that 19M do you see him leaving on the table in a universe where he already has a ring?

Guys. It’s not about PJ. It’s about a LAC first or Terrance Mann or whatever incentive they send us to take on Tucker’s fugly deal.
