This is solid for the Bucks in one respect. Minnesota was one of those teams on a similar level that would likely be bottom five. Sessions gives them a legit bump and takes them out of contention for bottom five record.

I have a question. What if Jennings absolutely busts? I know according to MMBOT that is not possible. This is another check against Hammond when he doesn't sign him just because he needed him some Delfino.

Semi-OT

Sources: Lee to receive 1-year deal
The New York Knicks expect to sign restricted free agent David Lee to a one-year contract at some point after Labor Day, officials familiar with the talks said Friday.
Contract discussions are expected to heat up next week, with a deal expected to fall into the $6 million-to-$8 million range.
No sign-and-trades have materialized at this point, and Walsh doesn't expect any. There is also a good chance that guard Nate Robinson will return to the Knicks on a one-year deal as well, Walsh said.

I'll end up looking like that girl in the closet at the beginning of the movie watching the team as assembled now.

This team is gonna be BAD! Seriously, like Brickowski era bad.

John Wall, John Wall, John Wall...that's my only comforting thought right now.

Well, in that case.. on the downside, the Bucks are ****.

But on the plus side, they'll be in the running for John Wall and co.

Unfortunately, I doubt we'll be nearly bad enough to get Wall. 9th pick, here we come!

It's been a pleasure watching you play Ramon, good luck in Minnesota.

I'm still holding out some hope that the Bucks match. If they don't, I'll be extremely disappointed.

I thought all last season that Minny would be a Sessions suitor, but after they drafted 2 PG's, I figured they would no longer be interested. He will be a huge upgrade for them, and allow Flynn to ride the bench, where he belongs.

There are some extreme parallels between this and the ZaZa situation:

-Both got 4/$16 offer sheets

-Both guys were going to be "backups" to a high lotto pick we had just drafted

-Both guys play the high valued positions (in my opinion) of Center and PG.

-Neither guy wanted to come back to Milwaukee given they'd compete with the lotto pick.

-Bucks management felt they were financially not in a position to match, partly because we were already blowing money on the position towards a "gritty vet" who sucks. In 2005 it was Gadz. In 2009 we have Ridnour.

In hindsight, not matching ZaZa was stupid. He would have been a big body that would have helped us win more games the last four seasons at a fair price. Not matching Ramon would be equally stupid.

Hammond will match this offer sheet. I don't know why everyone is going crazy.

Oddly enough, I agree.

This to me is a no-brainer if Hammond really wants to be competitive. It's not often that you can lock up a young and talented player for multiple years with a very team friendly contract.

I can't see how he doesn't match this.

The extreme difference is Sessions has shown to be a real impact player. 4/$16 was still a risk with Zaza because you were paying largely on what you believed he could do with 28-32 minutes per game. He was never close to being the sure thing Sessions is for that amount.

That's true. Sessions did more in his 96 games than ZaZa did his only season here. That said, ZaZa had some great games. I remember him completely intimidating Yao that season.

In any event, your comment further amplifies why matching should be a no brainer. We know Sessions can contribute to a greater extent than we did with ZaZa.

There are a number of people though very close to this situation who don't think we'll match. And seeing Chubby's comment where he talks about the Bucks in past tense is troubling. I'm hoping that either Hammond is smokescreening so he can get a salary dump trade done or Kohl intervenes to match this thing.

For what it's worth, thought i'm not sure he's your go-to-guy for breaking bucks news. Per Steve Haywood's twitter:

Haylov0204Good luck to Ramon Sessions in Minnesota...the Bucks will not match 4yrs @ 16million dollars I confirmed that an hour ago its B Jennings now

Who is Steve Haywood?
"I just wanted to play because I just love the game," Jennings said. "It doesn't matter to me. I get up to play basketball. It's my job. I have to still be a professional and finish the season."

Both Charlie and (most likely) Sessions leave and we get nothing in return=depressing.
Frankly, being from CT and watching Charlie since a college freshman, i didn't feel too bad about letting him walk, but not get anything for Sessions just hurts deep in my chest.

We'll have to see what happens here. This may just be a power play between Kohl and Hammond and eventually we match. I have a very hard time seeing Kohl allow this to go down. When we were talking five years and/or Full MLE offers that is one thing. 4/$16 is pretty much the dream scenario.

Ramon can easily be traded down the road, in the meantime, he's locked up for three-years. Having that "burdensome" $4mm in salary during 2011 won't stop this team from doing anything in FA or otherwise.

I think that if Hammond recognizes the advantage you have when you have 48 good minutes (assuming that BJ can give us some of those, or at least that Hammond thinks he can) at the PG position, he'd have to match this. This is low-to-moderate risk, moderate-to-high reward territory.
