There is little doubt in my mind that John does that to fix our opinion of him after this trade. It makes too much Hammondsense- Sam is an expiring, pick a young C, they learn from Sam, next year they're starting calibre and we've saved $10 mill on the cap and can use it to bring back Maggette.

I've read a few pages of the thread, don't get why people are so upset about it. It's like you're mad just because it happened.

We move down TWO spots and will likely draft the same player we would have at #12. We trade 3 meaningless guys to our team to get a clear upgrade at the center position. It also ensures that GOODEN WILL NEVER HAVE TO PLAY CENTER (this cannot be understated).

Hell, we could amnesty Gooden, resign Ersan, and we'd have a very respectable frontcourt. But that's just dreaming.

If we don't resign Ersan, I'd hope / expect us to acquire at least one other starting caliber player at one of the forward spots at least.

If we're hungry for a shooter, this trade allows us to pick up someone like Martell Webster to play some 2-3 for us.

I think Tobias might be counted to shoot a good percentage from the perimeter.

Also, Udoh was ok last year shooting the mid-range elbow jumper. And there's Gooden.

Trade Monta for Matthews/11
Draft Ross/Lamb and Sullinger/Jones

Jennings / Draft / Dunleavy / Draft / Dalembert

I wouldn't hate that. It all rides on Monta being traded though. If he's on the team come game 1, I will not root for any wins.

Once we got Udoh, Gooden would never have to play center anyways. But Skiles still did it. I expect to see Gooden play more center even with Dalembert.

Fixed. :D Nope of these players really matter. All depends on who we pick. And you are fooling yourself if you think Gooden wont see the court.

It's pretty clear Hammond and the cronies actually believe that Monta and Gooden are gunna turn this team into winners so any fantasies about them dumping them is just that. Trading for Dalembert just reenforces this in my opinion.

there's a big difference. We needed jackson to be our leader. with daly we know what he gives us and don't expect nothing more

QFT

But I will wait until I see what we do tomorrow night.

We won this trade on the technical merits IMO but it isn't enough to change our course of mediocrity.

This smells like the classic "poo poo platter" trade, and for once we aren't the ones on the receiving end. We can only hope that Ellis won't get picked up. We could field a legitimate team if we went hard after Eric Gordon.
