That's not good. Nearly every time the Bucks are the perceived "winners" in a trade it ends up being horribly horribly awful for them.

Epi, he turns 28 in April and in this deal we still kept Dalembert, Henson and Udoh on our roster. We just didn't need another role player bench big. We needed a guy who could move the needle. Most of us made our deal with the devil the last 24 hours to accept Josh Smith in that role.

I think my question in the second sentence suggested such with another big. I've just said that on at least the one time I've seen the guy with extended time he looked damn good. And yes, he won't move the needle, but what does with this franchise excepting one late trade that worked out for one one/third season)?

I hope Jennings gets a big deal, and Redick gets his 4 years 40m deal, and Ellis some how accepts his player option. Even betet rwould be Ellis decline what gets a new deal with the Bucks since Hammond is so hard on for him.

Its what this franchise deserves.

This was totally confirmed today. The day turns out differently, it's not a stretch to believe that Hammond could possibly have us in a position to contend in a couple years (Burke at age 22/E Gordon at 27/tobes at 23/Henson at 23/ Sanders at 26).

My frustration has nothing to do with Redick's abilities. I really like him as a player. He instantly becomes our best or second best shooter, he's smart, unselfish, and an underrated defender. A lot like Dunleavy, who I also really like.

The problem is we only get 3 months of redick, we'll get bounced in the first round (as we would have without redick) and then he leaves for nothing. And even if we do sign him to a long term deal, it means we could have just waited 3 months and not given up anything to get him.

It's an indefensible trade. Period.

I'm not sure why anyone would expect Ellis' minutes to decline in any noticeable way.

Because the coach prefers greater efficiency that he gets from JJR? Seriously if Ellis is used as instant offense off the bench, the Bucks will be dangerous in the East.

I wouldn't assume at all that the Bucks just could have waited and signed Redick in the offseason. Look around the league, in more cases than not, solid to good players resign with their current team than enter free agency. The odds of locking up Redick increased significantly by trading for him now.

That said, some certainly will feel that locking up Redick long term wouldn't be smart.

You must not have watched the Bucks much. Playing those who deserve to play isn't how they get things done.

I'm not intending to "defend" the trade...yet. My point is that Tobias just isn't as good as people on this board want to believe, and his value around the league is very diminished because of that. So I don't consider giving him up in this situation that much of a loss. And if Redick were to resign at a reasonable price, then I'd say it was totally worth it and until Tobias would prove otherwise, we got the better end of the deal.
