Re: OT: Cutting the Cord 2.0 The Tutorial
Recorded game with youtube tv. Started watching halfway through and was able to click ahead through commercials and catch up eventually. Can't fast forward but I got pretty good about clicking ahead a minute or two for commercial avoidance. The service won't be for everybody but it works for me. I'm watching on my laptop or hooked up to the big tv via hdmi cable.

So you can skip ahead but not fast forward?
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Yes, and actually, I was skipping to catch up as the game was in progress. I went back to it just now, and it wasn't letting me skip ahead today. Not sure what is up with that.

Re: OT: Cutting the Cord 2.0 The Tutorial
Okay...so we don't watch much TV. The only reason we had cable/direct TV/sling was for sports. I like to binge watch series before bed and whatnot. Last year we got an antenna ran through the direct TV coaxial for 50 something local channels and even grab wgn and other Chicago stations. Got a fire stick for Kodi on the TV and Kodi installed on other devises. Don't pay a dime and have yet to NOT find something. Most all sports have been found through various add-ons...sure sometimes the feed is less than ideal but enough Reddit digging can solve. What am missing with having to have all these other peripherals?

Anyone with Vue could you please tell me what package is needed to be able to watch the bucks with the FSGO app? Core or elite?

Hulu with Live TV is looking like a good option. With 200 hours cloud DVR, unlimited screens it's about $60 a month. Includes FSN. Doesn't include AMC or NBC. I'm thinking about it.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Philo launched today, $16 a month for 37 channels. No ESPN or FSN though.

I get the most expensive... I think if you choose the package with the FS1 available then you are good for fox sports GO.
Question - what are your thoughts on VUE? I don't mind it. I use it with amazon fire tv and a shuttle pc i build for the bedroom. I wish there was a better remote for fire tv and the interface was easier to navigate. Otherwise I don't mind it. There is some buffering but its not too bad (except during the GOT season finale)

Re: OT: Cutting the Cord 2.0 The Tutorial
So we need to make our office into a bedroom for our oldest kid as we have another on the way this spring, which means we need to move our desktop computer, router/modem, etc. I do not have any experience with fishing things through walls, internet cables, etc so contacted AT&T to move our internet jack. The cost is $149 for the service visit alone and then additional if they have to add a new jack (most likely). This does include warranty if something goes wrong. They did say we could find another professional to do so, but if any issues, we're on the hook for repair. Anybody know of what kind of professionals are options? Electricians? $200 minimum just seems steep to have a new jack installed.

I did Hulu with Live TV during it's beta phase and I really liked it. Currently doing DirecTv Now with the sports package but I wanted the DVR.

Electrician.
Do you have access below/above (unfinished basement/attic)?
If not, you might not have a lot of options without a fair amount of drywall repair. If it is just going on the other side of the wall its an easy enough fix.
AT&T is NOT quoting you $200. They are quoting you $149 for the BID. And it is likely going to cost you a lot more than that, depending on what needs to be done. And if they need to cut into drywall they are NOT repairing it either. The warranty really isn't worth much.

Ended up making our desktop wireless which so far has worked well. We kept the modem/router in room with the jack. It wouldve been $100 per jack of they drill new, in addition to service charge.

Good plan. Didn't even see that it was forever ago. Glad it worked out.

Re: OT: Cutting the Cord 2.0 The Tutorial
Asking the hive a question;
What is the best option for wanting to be able to;
-Have DVR accessible in every room
-NFL Redzone or equivalent
-Local sports available (Brewers, Bucks, Packers)
-Optional to have access to HBO
I have to believe there are options that I could try. We have Spectrum and like the spectrum app on ROKU on our TVs, works pretty well, just not sure what am I paying all this money for now that streaming has gotten so much better.
Appreciate any thoughts or any questions I have not thought of.

i have a Tablo, that is an over-the-air DVR, and it has a Roku app, so you can play recorded or live TV from any Roku. no too expensive, i made my money back from it and the Roku's in less than a year when i quit cable. Tablo has an easy to use interface and recording schedule. I coupled that with PS Vue (for my sports among other things)

I am using DirecTV Now. Definitely wait until they have DVR. The on demand options are spotty. I use it for FSWI and it's good for that.

So if I might ask, what are you getting from Tablo that you aren't getting from Playstation Vue? I have a friend that did PSV and it sounded like a pretty good option, but didn't dig too deep
