Magic Giannison, you are my spirit poster. You are the only person I 100% know loves Giannis more than I do. Reading you're posts make me smile every time. Keep up the good work.

Still no full highlights of Giannis but I found an impressive windmill dunk from the warm up of the game in Belgium. :D

and the late block from tonight's game against Holland's center.

and one of his usual steals from the pressure in full court.

I'd love it if Giannis scored 15 a game on crazy efficiency.

To be honest I don't care what anyone averages as long as we're winning.

Question for Greeks here. Who do you think is better, Bourousis or Koufos?

Depends really, Bourousis is more strong and can shoot even from 3pt but i believe that Koufos is more versatile and talented...
If you want a guy for strong defense and getting physical get Bourousis.

Prime Bouroussis was amazing C, and way better than Koufos, especially on his late teens that has developed a back to basket game. The only thing that Koufos has on him, is on the rim protection and not far ahead.

Bourousis was and is the better of the two.

Bourousis has one Problem. He plays much better when motivated. And he is usually highly motivated
for the National Team. For Teams like Real not in every Game :D His Team was Olympiacos.
Which he had to leave after some episodes. But that is a different Story.

So the question: Who is the better Center in the National Team? This goes to Bourousis without any question. Hands down.

Koufos was a real prospect in 2007 when he had a decend Jumper and good Moves. Unfortunately most of his NBA
Coaches made him be a "white" Back Up Center who only must protect the rim and nothing more.
He bulked up and lost his speed and Jumper

On Euro Level I was really disappointed about his Defense. Watching him get schooled by Bosnian No Name Centers
was really disappointing
On the other side he scores OK on Euro Level although the moves look like sh... sometimes

Bourousis can drive you crazy with his Point Center Attitude sometimes (3-Point Shoots, No Look Passes  )
but he is the heart of the Greek Frontcourt. A fighter who always gave everything for the National Team.

I love him for this. He played injured for the Greeks, he played as only Center during the Tournament, was always
there never rested and will stay there until he can pass the torch. For as long it will be necessary.

The real problem is that in paper they are very similar players and we don't have the opportunity to change our way of attack in the paint. We would have been miles better if we had prime Big Sofo in the paint for 10-12 Shaquille O Neal type points...
But he is in very bad shape atm...

That was how we beat team USA in 2006. We had so many different ways to attack that we were completely unpredictable in the end.
They had double team on Sofocles and Spanoulis was killing them in any way he wanted.
They guard close on Spanoulis and Papaloukas and Diamantidis were executing perfect PnRs with the other normal centers.
They let somebody else alone and he could shoot the three.

This is what I exlained top someone else today.

If we regret that we don't have prime Sofo with us then we have to regret that Nikos Galis has retired and is not available
anymore

The prime Sofo existed in 2006. In 2009 to be honest he was strong in the Game against Slovenia.
In the rest of the tournament he was just good.

After 2009 he had 1-2 good years with Maccabi but his second stint with Maccabi and his year
with Panathinaikos were solid to bad.

The prime Sofo disappeared in a Gyradiko (Gyros fast Food Restaurant)

Form looks good, though it is taking him a little bit too long to "get set" but that will no doubt improve with time and confidence. Looked like his added bulk is helping him bang down low, which is good but I still cringe at the thought of him as a center. I just don't see how he makes it through the season getting beaten up in the post.

Can't wait for this season.
