Not your standard Decemberists track, but I really like this from the first listen. New album out in March.

Been listening to lotsa Bon Iver lately.

Guy gives me lots of feels. That’s what the kids are, saying these days, right? And what the age cutoff on using it?

I feel like For Emma, Forever Ago is one of the finer works of art I've stumbled across, and I'm not sure I even think it's his best album (I'd probably give that to Bon Iver, Bon Iver). The layered motifs are superb- the slide from "So many foreign worlds" in Creature Fear to "So many foreign roads" in For Emma makes me warm all over.

You should feel the feels, brother. You should feel the feels.

This was a nice review of For Emma on its tenth anniversary last year, I love this line in it "...Vernon’s songwriting was grounded in real life. His pain was almost painfully authentic. His lovelorn lyrics were relatable enough to latch onto and vague enough to fill in with whatever personal drama was gripping your heart."

What? Ugh. I want to move back to Sconnie.

Man, in 2010 I went through a really challenging break-up with my lady of 8 years. I was working in an organic tomato and horticultural starts greenhouse north of Taos, NM as one of my ag jobs...I listened to Forever and Emma Ago like every single day for over a month. That album has such an incredibly raw emotional soul. Every time any one of those tracks comes on anywhere, it's instant emotional nostalgia. That will stay with me the rest of my life.

Fun fact, Justin Vernon is my neighbor. Or was, I dunno it was a couple years ago. He kept an apartment in EC and it was in my building.

Binkbeats.

The man is unreal. Self-produced DJ, instrumentalist. His live tracks are just so sublimely crafted. I've been watching this guy for about 3 years now. He is just in a class by himself, imho:

One of my fave live tracks:

Another absolute gem of instrumental genius, grammy-award winning Snarky Puppy and their insane live performance of 'Lingus'. Deeeeeeep bass and synth in this track. Cory Henry (keys and synth solo) is ridunkulous. Larnell Lewis can also play the fyuuuuuu** out of the drum kit:
