IDK, I'm not sure how BKN got any better with losing Lopez and Bogdonovic. The only positive replacements are what Russell and Crabbe? Unless a big leap from Russell I don't see how they're better. But yes other teams did get worse and the chances of hitting the lottery still don't make it a 'lock' to get #1. But i'd say they're clearly the favorite to be the worst record.

Take this with multiple grains of salt, but a guy I know has a friend that works for the Celtics front office and he's saying they've been told that Milwaukee is offering:

Middleton
Brogdon
Thon
Delly
possibly a 1st round pick

for Kyrie and Shumpert.

He says the Celtics are going to back off and let us have Kyrie.

Thats way too much. 2/4 of Midds/Brogdon/Thon/Jabari and our 1st round pick. Take it or leave it.

Yeah, I'm all for acquiring Kyrie for the right price but that offer makes me nauseous. I hope that they're not stupid enough to gut the future of this team to that extent.

To be clear, I usually don't trust this guy. I think I posted what he was hearing back around the draft as well. If I remember it right, he said that his friend told him Boston planned to sign Hayward, draft Fultz, and try to trade Isaiah for another star (I think at the time, Blake was the one mentioned, but I'm not positive). So I'd say he was right on like 1.5 of those (signing Hayward and trying to trade Isaiah, but not for Blake).

But since this obviously concerns us, I figured I'd pass it along.

Edit: Found the old post; obviously the Avery Bradley part didn't hold up either so who knows? Of course it's possible that what he heard was true at the time and Danny ended up changing plans as time went on.

Not Bucks related, but a Cuse alum I know is friends with one of the guys in the Celtics Scouting department. He's saying Boston is hoping to sign Hayward and then acquire Blake Griffin in a sign-and-trade by sending some combination of Isaiah Thomas, Marcus Smart, Crowder, and or draft picks to the Clippers.

He's saying that Boston would be willing to include all of those pieces for Blake, but I gotta assume that in this game of Telephone, that part got lost in the translation and it's just one or two of those pieces + salary to make it work.

At any rate, he's saying the overall plan is that Danny Ainge wants to trade Isaiah before his contract is up and Avery Bradley is the guard he wants to keep in Boston long-term.

If so we'd be rolling with Kyrie, Snell, Giannis, Monroe/Henson at C and either rookies or Vaughn at the other wing spot? All while having no bench. Am I crazy or is that team really not that good?

I'm concerned too.

If we could keep at least one of Brogdon or Middleton our defense perhaps could stand a chance of not falling off a cliff.

But as it stands I could see Middleton turning into Klay Thompson in Cleveland while Irving does his best Stephon Marbury impression here.

Brogdon should be dealt now while his value won't be higher, this team will not win a championship with Brogdon and Middleton starting, just not good enough.

He's only spent one year in the league, and was a very solid player. I just can't for the life of me understand why anyone would think dudes stop improving at 24.

Its not that he won't improve it is just that his value is very high. Id do Brogdon Delly Thon and a first for kyrie and filler. The idea of a Kyrie Midds Giannis core makes me feel pretty good.

I believe that is what the Cavs are telling the Celtics the Bucks are offering. Of course they would lie and inflate what they would be getting back. It is negotiating 101.

Would be interesting to pick the "best" offensive and defensive metrics and do a comparison looking at what % of players improve, stay the same or regress at each age. The notion that players are what they are like age 22-23 seems to be considered the rule around here, would be interesting to see that challenged.
