Giannis/Prince/Livingston
Brook/Bobby/Smith

Trent > Beasley
Wright > Beverly
Prince > Crowder
Johnson > Thanasis
Smith > Gallo

I'm OK with that..

Agreed, those are all upgrades and better fits for those roles. I dig that our 3 deep is all upside players too. Pat as your 10th man really is not the end of the world but there's options (AJax, Marjon, Livingston) to leapfrog him.

Adding/upgrading 3 rotation spots with no assets or money? Nah, Horst cooked.

I'm going to assume that he would have rather played for an NBA contender than tel Aviv and may have been waiting to get the final word

Yeah conspicuous timing. I could see PatBev hoping he'd be the starter here.

Horst definitely cooked. He had no tools, and upgraded the roster. I think this is generally where he has done a good job. I will leave his draft history to speak for itself.

I think that there is likely going to be a lot of effort to find a home for Pat that allows us to duck under the 2nd apron. There are players out there that would improve us immediately even at veteran minimum over Pat. The ability to aggregate salaries will also be important around the trade deadline.

Nobody has a clue about what's "enough" to win a championship in this current league environment. Dame/Middleton/Giannis can wreck any other contender with the right mix of role guys and coaching. But the importance of role-players in winning a championship also gets vastly overrated every single offseason. Dame and Giannis being healthy is all that matters.

MKE IN Jaxson Hayes - switchable big we need?
SAC IN Marjon - young player to take a flyer on, could be a different 3rd team w space
LAL IN Top 55 protected from SAC - saves some money, opens roster spot

Trent is better suited than Beasley for the exact role Beasley had last year. He's an equivalent shooter and a far more capable on-ball defender.

Very true, and i promise all of you that out starting 5 will have the highest net rating of any 5 man lineup.

Where do i bet on this?

They have one of the most effective switchable bigs in NBA history and he'll play 40 minutes a night when the playoffs start. The Bucks are fine.

Except Giannis has not been a great perimeter defender. He’s best in his roaming role.

The other conspicuous timing is that Trent was in Vegas working out for the Bucks right? He got to see what would be his main competition for SG minutes (Beauchamp and Jackson) play two games and look like complete ass.

i can promise you that was not a factor.

there is absolutely no way he signs that deal unless he's promised the starting job.

you would think i would come off as less certain now that something has happened which i would have told you was impossible, but i'm full steam ahead.

I think Horst has to get credit for rolling the dice on keeping that opportunity (starting SG) superficially open by drafting young, too. This is a a different type of example of why you don't draft for need, although I can acknowledge that there's potential that somebody (maybe Shannon, maybe somebody else) is better than both Trent now and Johnson down the line.

Still, you evaluate primarily on the guys you have, not the guys you don't have, and the combo seems like a very solid backcourt play from all angles.

This gives Dre and/or Green another year to grow into a bigger role, too, or opens the door for them to be traded to upgrade the frontcourt depth.

We still have work to do in the frontcourt if we're serious about changing the defensive strategy.

At this point move to cost cutting mode. Marjon for cap space/TPE. Trade Pat for anything less than his salary

Adding another scorer in theory should make BP expendable. Have a feeling Doc really wants to keep him though.
