when you are rich.....having an expensive hobby collecting something that holds or ACCRUES value cannot be compared to living like mc hammer. buying gold and silver bullion isnt a necessary expenditure either, neither is art, neither are rare stamps.....

but to compare that to running around casinos gambling with 20 person entourages spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on custom jewelry, women , and champagne is ridiculous.

He likes to gamble too and has been known to spend a lot of time (and a ton of money) at Potowatomi Casino if that helps..

You know I keep hearing this, but never have actually seen anything close to a good looking jumpshot from him outside of his college days and even that's debatable.

Honestly I never thought his jumpshot looked very good in college either and always said that he wasn't as NBA ready on the offensive end as advertised. Perhaps its just confidence, I don't know...

Have either of you watched Kevin Martin shooting threes? Aesthetics aren't everything. Bogut was putting up good numbers against great international teams as a 20 year old including the US and it sure wasn't through brute strength. He has what should be a workable NBA jumpshot, it just got lost somewhere in his head. I blame Stotts. :)

Any particular reason you are being a douchebag?

I just think salesmanship is funny. I mean, come on, man. I have nothing against you, it's just funny to lead off a post about why someone should buy a car by telling people you profit from car buying.

I didn't read it as a sales pitch. Besides, he's right.

I don't think it was a sales pitch, either. And him being right in your opinion doesn't make it any less funny/unreliable to me.

Then I guess we are back to EastSideBucksFan's question.

As for Bogut's comments, you don't have to be a racist to make the comments he made.

1. Who was I trying to sell a car to? (I have no idea why you think this)

2. I don't sell cars, we restore them. So I have an idea about the value of classic cars and current market. That comment was used to qualify why I would know such things.

ESBF, what is the overhead on buying a classic car? Can I pay to store it somewhere or do I have to have an extra garage? How much does it cost to rent storage space? Serious questions. Is it still a good investment if I don't have room to store it myself? Would it need to be climate controlled or just sheltered?

Being 7 foot and all, he shouldn't really have trouble getting his shot off with this supposed slow released. :D

Right, but you benefit from a market for classic cars. Would you make money for restoring cars if nobody wanted classic cars? I'm not accusing you of anything, I just thought it was funny. You and Ayt didn't. It can end there.

I think his jumpshot doesn't like the NBA! I agree let's blame it on Beaker!!! :D

To my knowledge nobody in this thread has said he was racist. My personal take on it is that he was being a self important generalizing douchebag, as a lot of 21-22 year olds tend to be.
F*** Marc Davis, f*** Tim Donaghy and f*** David Stern as a staff, record label and as a mothaf**kin crew......and if you wanna be down with Stern then F*** YOU TOO!!! Stu Jackson f*** you too.....all you mothaf**kas F*** YOU TOO!!!!

What would be the point in him responding if it is obvious you are being a dick for some unknown reason?

Someone stating they think it is a good market to invest in classic cars shouldn't bother you that much, especially when it is just a general statement and not any type of serious advice.

I feel like people who thought what he said was racist were coming of one of two places. One is that they assume he's talking in code, and he would be saying "black NBA players" if he thought he could get away with it. This is the kind of paranoia that I think is often enough justified that I find it hard to blame people for having a visceral reaction to his comments. The other is people who immediately mentally go there themselves, then feel guilty, then have to redirect the blame back at them for making them think racist thoughts. There's more to it than that, but that's my 30 second untrained psychoanalysis.

I think the racist angle came from him using the phrase hip hop. There is nothing wrong with criticizing hip hop culture, but people automatically associate that with black people and then take the next step and assume you are making a racist statement. If I criticize country music culture that doesn't mean I hate white people.
