He's only spent one year in the league, and was a very solid player. I just can't for the life of me understand why anyone would think dudes stop improving at 24.

Would be interesting to pick the "best" offensive and defensive metrics and do a comparison looking at what % of players improve, stay the same or regress at each age. The notion that players are what they are like age 22-23 seems to be considered the rule around here, would be interesting to see that challenged.

I don't think that's ever been true, though. Players in the NBA peak in their mid to late 20s.

There's no deal to Cleveland that's realistic that doesn't involve Middleton, though. Thon and Giannis (of course) should be untouchable IMHO.

Take Thon off that deal and I think about it.

My offer would be something like Jabari, top 5 protected 1st, and 1 of Middleton/Brogdon/Thon. Very opposed to giving up two of Middleton/Brogdon/Thon, especially Middleton/Brogdon. That swap just doesn't make us better.

Quick update:

Again, take it with a grain of salt. But I asked him about the 1st round pick and he said Milwaukee has NOT included that at least. So it's "just" Middleton, Brogdon, Thon, and Delly.

As someone else mentioned earlier, it's entirely possible this is simply what Cleveland is telling Boston to try to get them to up the ante. It's certainly possible that we haven't actually made this offer.

Based on that Zach Lowe piece seems clear that CLE is playing Boston right now by threatening to take the Brogs/Mid offer versus the C's offer. But that Woj bomb last night seemed to imply Cav's would settle for a late 1st or 2nd.

I would part with Thon/Brogdon/Top 5 protected 1st or Middleton/Brodgon/Top 5 protected 1st. Let them choose. But no, they don't get all three.

Delly would be a negative asset salary dump. Still seems like too much with Thon also in there.

But IF that deal were on the table, the Cav's would be dumb to reject it IMO. That's a fricken four guys to start around LeBron.

If they have to have Middleton, then I can live with that. But I am not giving up Middleton and Brogdon for Kyrie. One of them needs to stay here to play 2 next to Kyrie. Snell cannot be that guy.

I'd do Delly/Middleton + Top 5 protected 1st for Kyrie + bad contract.

If Thon is this untouchable asset that shouldn't be traded for an all-star PG, that means the Bucks are already set to win the East for years.

I do not believe this to be the case.

Delly is not a negative asset to the Cavs though, especially if they are moving Shump out in the process. They don't care about the extra year of a fan favorite.

Five years from now: Remember we could have had Kyrie if the Bucks would have included Thon? Now Thon can't even get off the bench in Orlando.

Five years from now, Kyrie will have capped off a career analogous to Melo. Transcendent international player, plenty of meaningless post-LBJ points and an expiring contract that can't garner half of FMV.

Gross. Thon isn't completely untouchable but I don't understand the feeling that he's a "throw-in". He's a more valuable commodity to have than the league-wide perception of his value.

Thank you for being the voice of reason.

Baffles my mind that some consider Thon to be untouchable. The guy has done absolutely nothing to show he's even remotely close to being untouchable.

I certainly don't consider Thon to be untouchable, but the trio of Khris, Thon, and Brogdon is a lot to give up. I think I'd probably get on board with it if it were to happen, but it could easily turn out to be too much.
