Feels to me like we've been in touch with Cleveland for a Leuer/Ersan (or some other combination) for JR Smith type deal and they're asking for our new Pacers pick to get it done. Maybe whoever blinks first.

I don't know why some people have their undies in a bind about this. I looked up Thanasisisis' NBA stats and he has a career per36 of 36 points and 6 rebounds. https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/a/antetth01.html       :o

What? Just trying to instill a bit of levity. I have fond memories of Walt Wesley, though to be brutally honest, when I looked up Walt's career per36, it turned out he was better than I remembered........

He has $15m owing to him for 19/20 but only $3.8m guaranteed if waived before 15th July. They've already agreed to push that guarantee date back from 30th June to keep shopping him around.

I see. I’d guess that if it’s Ersan they’d do it straight up considering Ersan will definitely have value this next season as a player and an expiring.

People who like to bag on Westbrook for chasing triple doubles seems weird to me. It’s impressive. His team has been one of the top rebounding teams in the league the last 5 years and he is a big part of it. Just because he isn’t a top 5 guy in the league doesn’t mean he isn’t a good player.

He would be a good second banana to Giannis and move Mid properly to the 3rd banana slot. Russ is an order of magnitude better than Bledsoe.

If we could deal Bledsoe + Ersan + Jon L+ the Indy picks we should absolutely do that. (but I don’t think we can trade Bledsoe until later)

It would send us way into the tax but...billionaires with a B.

He had a 50% TS% and shot 29% on over six three point attempts a game. From an efficiency standpoint he’s a significant downgrade from Bledsoe.

What does signing Thanasis have to do with resigning Giannis? Both their contracts expire at the same time, Giannis can just ask his next team to sign both of them LOL

He’s eligible for an extension next year.

Yeah, but I'm sure he understands he will still be signing for the years when his bro will be out of contract. What I'm saying is if they wanted to use Thanos as leverage they'd have to do 3 years.

And that’s exactly it. If I think that my principles should match this franchises I’m going to be disappointed *most*, not all, times. It’s what’s happened over and over. I have to accept that this franchise isn’t the best run in all of the NBA and they will make mistakes. Hopefully having the greatest player in the league balances that out.

i.e. not firing Kidd sooner, keeping Hambone around so long, the contracts they’ve doled out, roster construction, etc.

You're overthinking it. The goal is clearly to get Giannis to sign the extension next summer and keep him away from unrestricted free agency. If he doesn't sign next summer I would consider him as good as gone.
F*** Marc Davis, f*** Tim Donaghy and f*** David Stern as a staff, record label and as a mothaf**kin crew......and if you wanna be down with Stern then F*** YOU TOO!!! Stu Jackson f*** you too.....all you mothaf**kas F*** YOU TOO!!!!

I understand this is thw goal, I just dont get how signing Thanos for 2 years has any bearing whatsoever. They can both expire and move on at the same time.

OKC needs to cut cap to avoid up to $40 million in post-PG luxury tax if we might be trying to do a 3-way for Gallinari.

Alternatively if the Bucks give up another first to drop salary for ourselves fans should riot.

Because Giannis will be traded if he doesn’t sign next summer plain and simple. Thanasis is the bargaining chip hanging over his head. If he were to stay or want another team to make a trade, it would be even more difficult for another team to acquire him if they can’t assure Giannis they get Thanasis too.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they just name Vin Baker coach of the Herd after striking out on convincing any of their targets to move to Oshkosh. The search has been going on since March.

I think Giannis probably wanted to get his brother a foot in the door somewhere in this League, not necessarily on his team. I doubt Thanasis will be a factor on his decision, he wants to help his family in general but he was fine all these years without a brother on his team.

You’re old enough to remember Jack Haley.

Also, I’m rusty in new CBA. What type of Bird rights do we get with a two-year? We can get Giannis family more $$ with a Bird rights contract to Thanasis two years from now? Would I condone such salary cap skullduggery? Normally no, but given that we will be fighting the entire coastal media establishment to keep Giannis, we need to use every trick in the book.

Jack Haley was before my NBA consciousness extended all the way down the bench. I’m useless with CBA stuff.
