Lost in all their success last season is the fact Sarver is still the owner. He's going to Dan Gilbert this one.
Sarver is awful and should sell the team.

But I kind of feel like any outcome with Ayton was going to get ripped. If he doesn't sign it's 'what is Sarver doing' if he gets the max you'll hear some 'why give to him now, make him prove the playoffs weren't a fluke and he's restricted next year anyway, why rush'

All of it's just posturing and noise until the early extension deadline in two weeks.

Honestly I think the Mikal Bridges contract situation is far more interesting because he's a lot harder to peg an actual number on. Great role player but still a role player.

Kind of like Harrison Barnes from a few years back?

On other news, Bonzie Colson led his team to a win vs Thon Maker's squad with 22p and a 3 pointer with 0.2 left in regulation. Thon's team also featured Sean Kilpatrick, Anthony Bennet and Jaylen Adams

I might be with Sarver on this one. CP3 has a habit of making middling big men look very good (Chandler, West, Jordan etc). CP3 only has one or two good years left in him and what sort of player is Ayton after he goes? With Porter's skill set I can see why you take the risk, but what's Ayton's best case scenario? Rudy Gobert (or maybe I'm underselling his offensive potential...)?

Nothing like a little Kyrie drama to open training camp. :D

I can't help but like Kyrie. He's the quality villain every good TV drama needs.

Strongly disagree, I think that team is easily in the bottom 1/3 of the league. Maybe they make the play in game.

he is an equal or better offensive player right now, but he'll never be in Gobert's league defensively.

Simmons is being represented poorly.

Despite assurances through various media members of note, a league source says the financial significance of holding out is starting to take hold in Ben Simmons' camp.

After being fined for missing Philadelphia's preseason loss to the Toronto Raptors on Monday night — a penalty of roughly $360,000 — Simmons' representation had another discussion with the players association in which it was reiterated they would be unable to recoup the money being deducted from the $8.25 million sitting in escrow, sources say, and it was communicated to the Sixers that these early fines were perhaps higher than they expected.

Simmons has the right to seek arbitration for 30 days and can move for accelerated arbitration after the loss of the hefty game check. Few believe that will be a successful route for Simmons, who has no-showed for work while his camp drip-feeds stories in the media about his desire to play elsewhere.

The Sixers have had formal and informal discussions with Simmons' camp recently, which sources familiar with the situation characterize as scattered in message based on the day and the person speaking. As of yet, there seems to be no uniform consensus on what is best for Simmons.

Fair or unfair to Paul — and there's an argument he draws more heat than any non-player in the league right now — there are people at the team and league level who see this as the continuation of a pattern with his clients, characterized by one league source as throwing stuff at the wall and hoping something sticks. The expectation is that there will be another attention-seeking headline generated in the days to come as they assess their options of what to do next.

As has been the case throughout the process, there is significant interest in this situation throughout the league all the way up to the league office, where sources have remarked on the unprecedented nature of Simmons' public attempt to get out of his rookie extension before the second year had started. The league is wary of players trying to force their way out after signing deals that are explicitly designed to allow teams to hold onto stars they've drafted, especially so as signs of discontent emerge in other situations (e.g. Zion Williamson in New Orleans).

30 seconds into the lakers game AD came up gimpy and looked hobbled for half of the first quarter til he came out. It looks like he’s trying to play through some injury or something. He hasn’t really looked that good consistently since the bubble.

Coaches have 5 times longer career than players, and as a result there are countless great coaches out there waiting for a job.
And I'm not even talking about Euros, College coaches, Americans working overseas, unemployed former NBA coaches, and various undiscovered talent working in womens teams and smaller leagues for peanuts. But just within the NBA, Bud alone when he first joined the Bucks probably had 5 guys worthy of a HC job working under him.

And instead of all that, this is the type the NBA goes and gives those jobs to :dontknow:
It's totally inexplicable. It's like the person making the actual decision is the average GB poster, you ask him who would you like your next coach to be and he just tells you the last retired point guard he can remember. Short and famous seem to be the only two requirements.

Jalen Adams, different dude. Jaylen plays for Chase Buford in Sydney. But yeah Thon had 5 and 5, Hapoel Jerusalem showed good horse sense in signing him.
